Terrific book! I guess they were still tinkering with the design of the book's title; this font would be short-lived. Beautiful copy too. The colors look great.

I bought this yesterday: Marvel Masterworks: Tales to Astonish, Volume One. It contains Tales to Astonish #1 to #10. I've only had time to read the first story in #1. I love this stuff! I used to have every issue of Tales of Suspense. I also had Tales to Astonish #8 for a long time. I bought it for around $4 in the late 1970s. Flipping through Tales to Astonish #1 to #10, I see a few stories I recognize. "The Invasion of the Stone Men" is reprinted in one of the Strange Tales Annuals from just a few years later. That's probably where I saw the one about "The Secret of the Poltergeist." But there's a bunch in here I've never read before! One of my favorite Marvel's Masterworks -- Tales to Astonish in the early days were fantastic stories to read and I'll be reading that in a couple of weeks from now.

mrbrklyn -- I have a friend that has a copy of that Superman Book and it's in decent shape and he got it 8 to 10 years ago and I was wondering if he had it. I'll be looking at it sometimes next week! I just can't wait to see this timeless classic.

I got a couple more issues of 1980s Wonder Woman over the weekend. #281 has the first part of a three-part story in the back-up feature where the Huntress fights the Earth-2 Joker! I've had #282 and #283 for a while. Now's my chance to read the whole storyline!

Filling out the order I got from Lonestar with the 2 issues of Fiction Illustrated to make shipping worthwhile, (which arrived this morning), I also got:

You know, I was looking at my eBay purchase history the other day and I haven't bought any new comics since May. That means that the last comics I purchased were the ones I picked up myself in Salem, Massachusetts back in June. I just seem to be off buying comics at the moment, and I haven't even read any for months either.
It's weird; the last time I had a break this long from buying or reading comics was back in the mid-90s, and that lasted over a year. I just don't seem to have been in a very comicy mood lately.

Maybe your want list is down to a bare few ? No, not at all...it's still pretty sizable really. I dunno why it's happened, but I'm just going through a period of not feeling like reading or collecting comics at the moment. Hopefully I'll get back into it sooner rather than later.

This is kind of where I am at right now, in one aspect. I need to run the numbers, but I believe this year will show the lowest amount I've spent on comics in almost 2 decades. Part of that is due to me picking up very few new releases, part of it is a shrinking want list, and part of it is that I turned 45 this year and don't know how much more "stuff" I want to accumulate. On the flip side, I've been reading a lot more recently. Currently working on the post-Crisis Flash series, some Silver Age Incredible Hulk, and plowing through some Showcase Presents I picked up earlier in the year for Aquaman, Brave and the Bold, and Hawkman. Probably reading 8-10 issues' worth of stories per day, every day, for the past 5-6 weeks (now, if I could just find the time to post my Captain America #113 review, I'd be on to something).

We all have those moments of putting aside the comic purchases or in reading. It is natural and part of life that other things are much more important and take precedence. There are days or weeks where I won't pick up a comic book or watch television/dvd/movies at all. Usually depends on the work load and time of the year along with planning/doing vacations.
