I have both of these from off the stands.

Ah well, it's still a Steranko book I have had my eye on for a while but never ran across at a show, so I am happy to get it. -M

Yeah, I was going to say, all four of the Illustrated Fiction books feature original stories (and Steranko's is the only one not written by Byron Preiss). I've managed to get all four of them, but Chandler is by far my favorite; I even wrote a brief review of it a few years ago (which even managed to get a brief comment from Sean Phillips).

I've never found a copy of the fourth issue of Fiction Illustrated. It was a noble experiment, but a bit before its time.

That fourth Fiction Illustrated, with the Son of Sherlock Holmes story printed in a larger format, is indeed hard to find - for a reasonable price - even online. I lucked out about two years ago when I stumbled onto a pretty reasonably-priced copy on Bookfinder from a bookseller in the UK. I think I paid about $13 total, i.e., with postage.

I bought this yesterday: Marvel Masterworks: Tales to Astonish, Volume One. It contains Tales to Astonish #1 to #10. I've only had time to read the first story in #1. I love this stuff! I used to have every issue of Tales of Suspense. I also had Tales to Astonish #8 for a long time. I bought it for around $4 in the late 1970s. Flipping through Tales to Astonish #1 to #10, I see a few stories I recognize. "The Invasion of the Stone Men" is reprinted in one of the Strange Tales Annuals from just a few years later. That's probably where I saw the one about "The Secret of the Poltergeist." But there's a bunch in here I've never read before!
