Back in the 80s when I was a kid, I got a run of Amazing Spider-Man in the mail, from 1985 to 87. I still have the issues but I want a nice CGC run of it because I'm feeling nostalgic. Twenty-Four issues I got in the mail, but I only want 17 of them. Purchased 2 of them and got them today. I got this one after Christmas for a good price.

Excuse my ignorance, but is that a significant issue? * Or just one you needed to fill a hole on your wants list? * - I'm not an X-Men fan at all.

Classics in new trades arrived from Amazon today. 2 books of Eternals reading to dig into which I haven't read since they were first published. The 1985 Eternals mini all 12 issues including Iron Man annual #6, Avengers 246-248 and the What If back ups. Then the Celestial Saga from Mighty Thor 283-301 and annual #7. So plenty of cosmic goodness ahead to enjoy. Wahoooooo! I didn't read the 1985 Eternals series at the time and since then I've been sufficiently turned off by the synopses I've seen online that I still haven't ever looked at it closely - but with the new one by Gillen coming out now, my curiosity about all things Eternal - even the bad things, or things I think are bad - is so high that I might finally give it a try.
I didn't know Iron Man Annual #6 was part of it, BTW - is it an intro or an epilogue or just a brief guest star appearance, or what?

Eternals themselves have nothing much to do as they are captives of the Deviants. Rhodey is out testing armor upgrades to his IronMan suit when its system crosses over with how the Deviants have trapped the Eternals so he finds himself involved with finding a way to free them from Kro's clutches. Kind of a intro/primer on their history/struggles.

But it is part of the excellent IMHO XMEN/Brood/Shi'ar storyline. Its also part of Dave Cockrum's return to the book after Byrne left in 143 So yeah basically trying to fill in 1-300

Masamune Shirow's Ghost in the Shell Picked up a nice used copy of this one recently (from Darko Macan) - it's the edition published by Dark Horse in the mid-1990s. This is part of my attempt to remedy a huge blind spot in my comics reading, manga, by at least reading some of the classics or better known exponents of the genre. So far, I have this and the first two Lone Wolf & Cub digests. Still shopping around for cheap, or at least reasonably priced, editions of Akira and Nausicaa in the Valley of the Wind. Akira was published in big, phone book edition by Dark Horse.. amazon has them, but not for a great discount. Akira is almost always at the library though. Nausicaa came out in nice full size trades around 10 years ago.. there was a box set for hardcovers, but then paperback came out that were much cheaper.. those should still be around as new items. Might be some patience will net you cheap used ones though, there are plenty in circulation I'm sure.

The library isn't really an option for me in this case (I'm not in the US), as neither Akira nor Nausicaa have been translated into Croatian - and the number of comics titles in any genre in English is pretty limited in libraries here. A local comic shop here has the 6-volume Akira set published by Dark Horse, but it had a roughly $200 price tag on it last time I checked. And I've been running occasional online searches for the both the paperback editions and hardcover boxed set of Nausicaa, which looks lovely, but so far I haven't found anything offers at a price I'd be willing to pay.

ahhh... I didn't realize you weren't in the US, that makes it alot tougher. That's definitely a premium for Akira, but maybe it has to do with currency or shipping or some such.

Wound up winning only one lot in the last FB auction of January (got outbid on another item in the last few minutes while I was at work). This is what I would up getting... Shadowpact 1-10, the entire lot for only $3, so about 30 cents an issue (plus shipping, but all of January's books I won will be shipped together spreading out the cost among all those books so it won't be much per book additionally). We'll see what February brings. -M

Love Patrick McGoohan as Prisoner....before that he was Danger Man / Secret Agent and Gold Key had a 2-issue series in 1966. Very happy with this high grade #1.

Does that have a text page or inside front cover with 3 or 4 illustrations on it? I bought the original art from part of this book as a gift for a friend and was mad when it arrived rolled up.

I swear, sometimes this forum conspires with the universe to force me to get stuff... Shaxper was just talking about Shadowpact in another thread (maybe the Superman review thread)... and here a see mrp buying some. And of course my LCS has the series as a set...not for a particular deal though ($50), but really, universe, I get it.. I'll check it out at some point!>
Anyway, got a nice little haul of Gold Key books on ebay this week, which y'all sent me scurrying looking for in this thread not too long ago:
Tragg and the Sky Gods #2 and #7 Flash Gordon #1 Magnus #19 Dagar the Invincible #16
Very excited to check them out!
