Okay, my big downgrade purchase is here. Dropped a couple grades. The new book was basically half the price of the copy I sold. I am hoping to use the money I received to buy another big key I want, we'll see how it goes.

Whats the grade on that Avengers #8 ?
Without looking at the entire book, just based on the front cover, I'd say in the neighborhood of 4.0-5.0, possibly as high as 5.5-6.0 depending on what the rest of the book looks like out of the bag.
The devil is in the details, though. Cover condition does not a grade make-- back cover and interior do matter.
Pluses in this case are that there doesn't appear to be any notorious "Marvel chipping" which is great news for a '64 book, and very minimal staining on the front. The spine ticks and staple stress look fairly reasonable though. I can't tell if there is any spine roll, and the bag makes it impossible to determine the remaining cover gloss.

It's a solid 4.0, leaning towards 4.5. I think if I had it pressed and cleaned, which I have no intentions of doing, it would be a 4.5 with a chance at a 5.0. I'm very satisfied with it!

I'd be satisfied with it too, a very profitable "downgrade" in a perfectly acceptable grade, IMO. Congrats! In the current grade-crazy speculation environment, I think ya done good.

I find the speculation to be off base. The character as introduced in the Loki series was lack luster.

I find the speculation to be off base. The character as introduced in the Loki series was lack luster. I think he's going to be excellent. The character in Loki wasn't Kang, it was Immortus. When we get Kang, I think he's going to be very different in temperament and personality. I also think he's going to be around for the long haul. He's just being set up in Phase 4 with Loki and all the multiverse stuff in Spider-Man and Dr. Strange. We know he's the bad guy in Ant-Man 3, which isn't out for another year and a half. But that too I think is going to just be setting up all the real Kang stuff in Phase 5 which, this is just a guess, but I think it has to culminate in the Avengers re-forming in Avengers 5 to battle him, since he's the Avengers villain. So I think we might be seeing Kang for the rest of the decade like we did with Thanos. We'll see. Either way, I'm happy I get to keep my Avengers collection complete while potentially adding some more books to my collection with the extra money. And Kang is the best villain in comics, so even if the movies don't work out, his first appearance was undervalued to begin with.

He also plays a key role in Young Avengers, which is also being set up in the MCU, so I could see him appearing in a Young Avengers show or movie as well, and they could always go for Rama Tut and Kang in an FF vehicle, possibly using lost in time as a reason the FF haven't been around in the MCU for a while... Lots of of untapped possibilities in the MCU with that character. -M

The second lot of my recent comics purchases turned up last week. Got a nice couple of Amazing Spider-Man comics (#182 and #183, featuring Rocket Racer ), and some more Steve Englehart era Dr. Strange. The latter are all British price variants, which I kinda like. ASM #183 was one of my earliest comics, and I think my first Spider-Man. I don't care what anybody says, Rocket Racer and the Big Wheel are alright.
