Re-doing my graphic novel library by making my own personal binds (...) Man, this is the second time you've posted images of your bound collections and made me stop for a split second and think, "Wait, wha--, that's been collected?" The Black Canary book in particular - I'd be interested in a reprint collection of that series just for von Eeden's art. By the way, I seem to recall some rumblings a few years ago about Nathaniel Dusk and Silverblade finally being collected (although both should have been done before Colan died). I guess nothing came of that...

DC's trade and archive department has been a wasteland of false promises for over 20 years of reprinting books. Remember when Marvel used to have those cheap black and white reprints volumes (the Essential lines), DC tried that and didn't know how to promote those. Then all the items they've solicited and resolicited and nothing's ever come from them. Heck, they've promoted the Parobeck JSA trade 5 times in over 10 years and still nothing's come from it. I had to create my own bind. Trust me, I have more DC stuff (and some Vertigo runs) that will finally get their due from me. Nice part is I've posted these on Twitter, tagged some of the creators and they're amazed. I've had a few reach out to me to sign their binds. They're happy that they got the a trade in some format. -R

I seem to be going back-and-forth between Batman and Superman-related comics lately.
A few weeks ago, I was at my regular comic shop, looking at the trades, and I saw they had Showcase Presents: Supergirl, Volume Two, which I’ve been wanting to read since I read the first volume a few years ago. The guy who runs the shop said that he thinks it’s the very last Showcase volume in the inventory.
I am loving this run on Supergirl. She’s been adopted by the Danvers family, she’s living happily in Midvale, she frolics with Comet the Super horse when he isn’t having one of his bouts of amnesia, her best friend is Lena Thorul, who somehow looks just like her and who’s also somehow the little sister of Lex Luthor, but she is unaware.
There’s also a storyline with the return of Lesla-Lar , who releases some of the Kryptonian bad guys from the Phantom Zone, and she is quickly disintegrated by Kryptonian weapons when she gets the short straw as they are testing their capabilities.
That makes me sad. I love Lesla-Lar.
I did some online research and I bought the issue where she returns from being disintegrated, Superman Family #206.
I also did some research into the Phantom Zone and General Zod (he’s one of the villains released from the Phantom Zone by Lesla-Lar), and I ended up purchasing a reprint collection called Tales from the Phantom Zone, which includes several of the early appearances of the Phantom Zone and General Zod, and I also purchased the Phantom Zone TPB, which reprints the Phantom Zone mini-series (four issues) from the early 1980s, written by Steve Gerber, with art by Gene Colan.
I got them pretty cheap off eBay. I can hardly wait to read them.

DC just seems to not know what to do with anything that isn't Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, or Green Lantern I remember my LCS owner at the time were selling those Showcases, especially the Warlord and the House of Secrets ones, like mad. Because it was stuff that wasn't reprinted multiple times over and over. And the sales for the non-hero stuff from DC and Marvel were outselling the hero stuff. I know the the Essential Tomb of Draculas were one of Marvel's best sellers. They were caught with their pants down and didn't understand how those were outselling Batman and Spider-Man. The fans are smarter than the companies and they don't acknowledge it. Yet another version of Hush, The Dark Knight Returns or Year One is put on the shelves.

Amazon just dropped this off, the new Avengers Epic Collection that covers #129-149, Giant-Size Avengers #2-4, and some other material from that timeframe (1974-1976). I'm really excited about this one because out of those listed, I was missing 7 issues that I don't have in other collections or as single issues. This is right in the heart of my favorite period, so can't wait to read. With this collection, I now have the first 9 Avengers Epic Collections that take me all the way from the start to #166, and then via other collected editions I have a full run through #277 (including I think most/all of the annuals), with the exception of #169 that was a fill-in during the Korvac saga and not included in that trade (inexpensive single issue to pick up though).

Bought on the 20th of July, shipped on the 29th, received 17th August. 4th back issue Mile High order: Nine days for processing may look like a lot, but for MH it's not. I've seen worse. Nonetheless, it's the industry standard for slowest fulfillment rate. Asendia, OTOH, is still the best carrier for overseas delivery, hands down: $7 for 8 comics with tracked delivery. BUT, once you add the $3 MH asks for insurance and the 17.69€! customs charge you for $47.70 worth of merchandise, the 60% discount on the regular price (they never charge you that, BTW) kind of disappears. The problem is that Lone Star doesn't fare any better, they have lower regular prices, but postage is much higher and customs (since July of last year)... just as bad. The best way to buy from the US right now is to find an eBay seller with reasonable postage costs trough the Global Shipping Program. What they charge for customs is way less.

Bought on the 11th of January, shipped on the 11th of August (pre-ordered), received on the 17th via UPS. 6th Walt's Comic Shop order (actually the 2nd): It should've come out in June (in time for the 60th anniversary), but delays are ubiquitous nowadays.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Tomorrow's Heroes Omnibus Would love to get the omni for Valentino's Guardians, hopefully it'll stay at a reasonable price until I get it on my birthday. Got quite a few omnis that I'm debating on (currently settling on Excalibur and New Warriors)

This looks so great! My first issue of Avengers was #144 and I didn’t miss an issue until way into the Doctor Druid era. I traded with somebody for #141 soon after I got #144 and it only took me a year or so to get all but one or two of the issues, including the Giant-Size issues, from about #133 to #143. I went to used-book stores with my dad and, for some reason, I had much better luck with Avengers than any of the other Marvel series that I liked. I’d really like to have that Epic Collection! But I’ve read them. I keep thinking the next epic collection I should get is Hero for Hire, because I’ve only read a handful of those.

How does the colouring look on those Epic collections, pretty much the same as the Masterworks hardcovers?

Got quite a few omnis that I'm debating on (currently settling on Excalibur and New Warriors) I want to purchase the Valentino omnibus as well. I have all the single issues (it is one of my childhood favorites), but online there are some 50 dollar deals for the omnibus which, to me, is really good for almost 1000 pages.
I am excited to read this collection I just received (Tomorrow's Heroes) because I have not read all of the GotG's early appearances so there will be some new stuff for me. One day I would like to check out the later Guardians comics from the '00s, but the team iteration seems more like the Infinity Watch to me (having Gamora and Drax for example) than the Guardians I am used to.
