A Sailor's Story - This is the collection of Sam Glanzman's two graphic novels. I have the originals, but this was a good price and means I don't have to dig them out to read them. $8.25 That's a frikkin' bargain for a great book.
It's interesting how DC seemed more comfortable with the idea of auteur creators earlier than Marvel. Besides Glanzman, there was Robbins writing and drawing Batman on a few stories, Sekowsky on WW (as seen in the ongoing thread), Kane on Captain Action, Kirby on his various books, and I'd guess that Ditko could've been writing the "words" on Creeper and Hawk & Dove if he'd wanted to. The only example I can think of at Marvel is Steranko (and they may have felt a little burned by that experience).
(And I should also mention Shelly Mayer on Sugar & Spike.)
And on Scribbly before that...though I guess that was technically All-American. It's definitely a book I've been looking at for a long time, but I was looking for a super good deal because, A) I already have the original graphic novels and B) I have at least 50-100 collected volumes (mostly strip reprints) that I need to read. But I could not pass up that price.

I found World’s Finest #276 for only $4 on eBay. Dr. X and Double X fight Superman and Batman! George Perez cover!
I had to get that, I must say.

Hey Hoosier, do you have a trick to finding stuff on ebay? Or do you just spend alot of time there? The variety of great deals you pull amazes me sometimes....
I got a couple things... Found Iron Man #15 for $12... then I got the 2nd and 3rd Air trades (G. Willow Wilson's pre-Ms. Marvel Vertigo Series) for just shipping (.01 + $6). I thought about whining about the shipping since clearly they will be in one package, but I felt bad the poor guy didn't get any bids, and I was happy to get the two trades for six bucks each!

Well, sometimes I’m looking for something specific and I’ll come across a pretty good deal for something I’m mildly interested in, like that group of 10 Superman Family comics that I got for $20 total a few weeks ago. And sometimes I’m looking for a broad range of issues in a specific series, and I’ll just get the issues that are cheap. Like right now, I’m sort of working on Batman #251 to #300, And I tend to buy the mid range issues for $3 to $5. That Batman #79 I got for $150 was a bit of a fluke. I had it on my watchlist without any real intention of buying it, but the dealer offered it to me for 25% off. And then sometimes, I decide I want something like Worlds Finest #276 and it’s on eBay for $4.

That Worlds Finest #276 came today. I haven’t had a chance to read it, but I flipped through it and it looks pretty good. The Batman/Superman team-up has some good-looking Rich Buckler art, there’s a Green Arrow story with Trevor von Eeden art, and to my surprise, there’s a Zatanna story with Dan Spiegel art!

Sunday treasure hunting... struck gold. Found a nice copy of All-Star Comics out in the open for a reasonable price.

Went out with the younger daughter for a day of "Nerd Shopping" yesterday. She picked up a Funko POP for herself and one for her sister for Christmas, while she saw one that wound up buying for her for Christmas, while I got the following "previously-owned" TPBs:
Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth, 15th Anniversary Edition for $4 The Eternals Complete Collection for $13 (price new is $39.99).

I've started working on filling the gaps in my Batman #251 to #350 collection. Some of those gaps are pretty big! I didn't have any issues between #314 and #337. But I just ordered these off eBay so that particular gap isn't so bad: #312, #322, #328, #332, #335, #336.
#312 is a Calendar Man story from the Bronze Age, before The Long Halloween turned him into a very weak version of Hannibal Lecter. I've read it before but I'm looking forward to having my own copy.

I bought three reprint books recently. First, there's the Death of Captain Marvel TPB. It's reprints the Death of Captain Marvel GN, plus several other Captain Marvel Comics. Second, after talking about it in the CCF Zoom chat, I bought the Phantom Stranger Omnibus. Third, I'm waiting the Ghost Rider (Danny Ketch) Epic Collection that just came out to arrive in the mail. It was a title that one of my brothers read a bit of when it came out, but I didn't really read.

Picked up Marvel Masterworks: Avengers Vol. 3 the other day. I already had vols 1, 2 and 4, but was missing this one. I went for this particular trade dress so it fitted in with my other volumes... I'm looking forward to getting stuck into it over the coming days and enjoying some circa 1965 and 1966 issues of the comic.
