Picked up Marvel Masterworks: Avengers Vol. 3 the other day. I already had vols 1, 2 and 4, but was missing this one. I went for this particular trade dress so it fitted in with my other volumes... I'm looking forward to getting stuck into it over the coming days and enjoying some circa 1965 and 1966 issues of the comic. It’s so awesome and so stupid at the same time! #23 and #24 are my favorite Kang story. #25 is a good candidate for worst Dr. Doom story of the 1960s. You quickly get used to this roller coaster effect.

I love these paperback ones from a cover aesthetics standpoint even though I have a truckload of hardcover masterworks as well. The extra real estate for the image and updated coloring that actually enhances without losing the vintage flavor, it just all works so nicely. I have this same volume and being a huge Kang fan, it's probably my favorite cover. Oh, and the actual reading is fun as well! Congrats on grabbing this one.

Somebody on eBay was selling some cheap, low-grade issues of Batman from the late 1970s that I need, so I went ahead and ordered #283 and #303. The latter issue apparently has a very obscure Batman villain known as the Dodo Man who I never heard of before a few days ago. This sounds like a comic book that I need!
I was scrolling to see what else they have, and came across a low-grade copy of Super-Team Family #2, with the Creeper/Wildcat team-up that I’ve heard about but never read. For $1.29! So I added that to the order.
I don’t know if I can wait a week for these comics!

I decided it was time for me to have a copy of Batman #300. So I went to eBay and put a $25 copy of Batman #300 on my watchlist. I usually mull these things over for a few days. But the dealer got back to me within the hour and offered it for $21.75, so I went ahead and ordered it.
I should have it in a few days.
I hear it's not that great, but I'm always hearing how bad writer David V. Reed is when I actually like him quite a bit.

I wasn't planning to buy anything since I'm just more enjoying what I have these days, but my wife needed a number of back issues so I decided to pick up a little stack for myself just for fun. These looked neat, I like the old Andy Hardy movies and a dog with diving gear? Works for me! I have the second (and final issue) of Captain Venture, so this completes it (love the art!). I'm a huge Sea Devils fan so a crossover in Challengers (another favorite) was a no-brainer: The Adventure issue is for the Black Canary story with Toth art, but also love the Oksner Supergirl cover. I always liked that short-lived outfit for her too, I have it on a drinking glass of all things! And thanks to zaku for putting this Superman issue on my radar when we were talking in the continuity thread, I've never read it before. More Toth interior art: I don't really know what's going on with this New Guardians issue, I just like Staton art so giving it a try. And I spotted what "appears" to be Jocasta on that X-Men Annual cover, so curious what's going on there. Love the villain lineup in these, especially Goliath, Titania, and Trapster. Kingpin looking sharp in the dark suit as well. Random find looking up stuff Roy Thomas has worked on: Love Allred's art, realized I need to read more of his classic Madman related material! Recent discussion on Art Adams reminded me I still needed to read Monkeyman and O'Brien: Also in the category of stuff I've meant to check out forever, Moore's run on Supreme. Technically the second issue of his work on that series, but the cover on this particularly hooked me. Plus, can you ever get enough Tick? Last but not least, I gave my daughter my Batman B&W trade after she fell in love with it, so a good excuse to pick up this single with the Toth cover and Bolland story inside (my favorite short from the entire series). I just finished reading the short-lived Fantastic Five series (really good!) so this appearance in Spider-Girl is my gateway into that series.

@supercat2099 , Fantastic haul!
You're in for a real treat with Mike Allred's Madman series. If you can, start with the Thundra era books (see if there's a trade) and then dig into the Dark Horse series which is truly fantastic! Dark Horse in the 90s was so good. Aside Sin City, the whole LEGENDS imprint put out some of the best monthlies like Hellboy and minis (like the Monkeyman & O'Brien). Comics Greatest World (I liked a lot of it) and also the Maverick imprint as well. A solid decade of great reads
Also, Moore's Supreme is a lot of fun. Yeah, its a lot of recycled ideas from some of other books but it makes special and Silver Age-y fun.

And that answers a question I had on if it made sense to go back to the earlier Madman material. Based on your recommendation I'm going to do just that, I need to place another order anyways because I finished Monkeyman and O'Brien (which was awesome) and the story continues in Dark Horse Presents. I think I first ran into Allred with X-Statix and then a Mr. Gum special in the early 2000's, but missed his classic 90's material so I'm looking forward to it! You just reminded me as well I need to revisit Hellboy, I have I think the first trade for the early stuff which I need to re-read, and then keep going (along with checking out more from the imprints you mentioned).

Glad I can could be of assistance. It was Wizard that hipped me to Madman from Palmer's Picks. Bought it from there and became an instant Allred fan. Bought his prior stuff too (Creatures of the Id, Dead Air and Graphic Music). He's got some of my favorite reads. And he and Laura are some of the nicest people in comics.

More Toth interior art: That Superman Annual is awesome! And that cover is peak Gil Kane at the height of his power! The Toth story is incredible, and so is the Curt Swan backup story.

I just read both last night, totally agree! Yeah, the Swan backup story is a gem for sure. Also agreed on Kane, awesome cover and this was right around the time he was doing the Sword of the Atom mini-series too which I love.

World’s Finest #223 is coming in the mail today. I put a low bid on it because it’s one of the last 100-Page Super Spectacular issues of WF that I need. I didn’t actually look at it closely until I had won. It features a reprint of the first Composite Superman story!
(It’s the little things in life.)
I’m also getting Batman #301 and DC Special Series #5, the one with Luthor and Brainiac gloating over a defeated Superman.

I got so much 1970s and early 1980s DC lately! I decided to vary it a bit with some 1970s Marvel, but I’ve read so much Marvel from that era that it’s not always easy to find something. I put some low bids on Hero for Hire #10 and #11, and I won them both just a few minutes ago.

Seems like maybe prices are getting better for the buyer on ebay again?
