A find it funny that Liefeld got attacked for wanting to leave Image to form his own separate imprint but Jim Lee gets a pass for taking his entire catalogue and selling it to DC.
I've never understood that either.

Got this for Mr. Rags, Playboy The Cartoons. It's a 368 pg Hardcover of collected cartoons and strips from the classic men's magazine. I included one decent sample which shouldn't get me a warning or suspension....we're nearing 500 Hardcovers, should get there by Christmas.

This is one of those OOP Hardcovers that doesn't wind up in the cheap bin. During the boom I would see them listed for as much as $90 each but I managed to secure a spare for $30 and can swap it for something in the vicinity of $50 with mates. Love the art in this one....seems to be a Ghost Rider month for me as I'm adding a lot of new material too.

FAQ. What are Double Double comics?
The British Double Double Comics series were bound-together remaindered copies of (mostly) selected DC comics with covers taken from original DC comics ,or sometimes new covers adapted from interior scenes.
From around 1967-70, the cover-stripped unsold copies of imported American comics which were returned to distributors Thorpe & Porter by newsagents for disposal, were frequently repackaged as these items. Each issue of Double Double Comics consisted of four 32-page comics bound together under a new cover. These 4 comics could vary so two different copies of Action Double Double comics #1 might have different contents, including the random Marvel comic that found itself in the mix.
I managed to get the very first Double Double comic from 1967. Don't expect to find these in NM, they were scarce and went through the rough and tumble of being handled a lot so I'm really glad I got a decent mid-grade copy.
This issue contains Action Comics #340 (1st appearance of Parasite), Action Comics #346, Action Comics #348, Showcase #67 (1st B'wana Beast).

While checking some of Chuckles' recent newsletters at Mile High, he mentioned this time of year being one of the slowest at the company. Really? I wondered if this could be extrapolated for all comic sellers so I got a bit more hardball with offers / counter-offers and amazingly, 4 out of 5 are working! So thanks for the tip Chuckles....no, haven't placed an order with you yet because your prices are still out of this world.....

That makes a certain amount of sense... lots of money spending for the holidays, but it's not easy for people not in the hobby to buy one of us a present.

I bid on Batman 307 and won. It’s the first Lucius Fox and I’ve been putting low bids on Batman 307 hoping to get a reasonable price. So I got it for $12.50.

Attn: Roquefort Raider , with reference to a response to your question in another thread about the Tom Strong Compendium, about a day or two afterward I again stumbled onto a great deal on that very book - used/like new condition, for the equivalent of $35, so just over half of cover price). It just arrived today: The entire 36-issue run between two covers - I'm very happy with this. And like I said in that previous comment, the compendiums are definitely worth the trouble, esp. if you can find a good deal (which is probably easier for you guys in North America than us European residents).

Not in Canada, alas... It usually goes like "half price, plus $5,678.99 shipping fees". And in US dollars!!! But thanks for the recommendation. Amazon sells it for 60 bucks (CAN) right now, which is less than $2 per issue. I might just buy it!

Oh, I can relate, esp. since the pandemic - I haven't bought any books from the US (or Canada for that matter) in over 3 years. In my case, I can't believe how much sellers in relatively nearby countries like France, Austria or Italy (fellow EU member states!) charge for postage. Even after Brexit, sellers in the UK still offer the best prices and shipping rates for books (that's where the aforementioned Tom Strong book came from).

Hodge podge mixes of high grade copies that were safely packed away can be fun. See if you can spot 3 nuggets acquired for a fraction of their value. Included 2 closeups for those of you who need binoculars....

I really need to get it at some point. My mom was very big into Moore when I was younger and of course she flocked to ABC. Tom Strong always felt like a great homage to pulp adventure heroes Also bought myself a copy of Judge Dredd: The Complete Case Files 6 from Amazon. The only problem I have with it is that doesn't have the North American trade dress (I think they might have discontinued it?), but it does look a lot sharper, I'll give it that
