I'm posting this one at an angle as it's a bit risque...Penthouse had its own response to Playboy's Little Annie Fanny with Wicked Wanda. In the mid 70s, there was one collected Trade Paperback that's quite difficult to get in higher grades almost 50 years later. My dealer got 2 copies which arrived for the New Year....in solid VF. It has a solid black back cover which gets scratched very easily. Also included a couple samples of the artwork that I didn't have to edit...but it's generally more ribald than Annie.

And I finally got the very last Spire Archie comic I needed to complete all 19. This was extremely hard to get in high grade but we got one....
And yeah, there's a bit of irony posting Penthouse Wanda with a Christian comic....welcome to my world.

I think he'd be a fascinating companion for a drunken evening. Nice looking edition of The Killing Joke. It's one of my favourite things Moore has written and the Brian Bolland artwork is absolutely amazing. Maybe Bolland's best comic work ever...and that's really saying something.

It's Oh, Wicked Wanda! It's a shame that this isn't collected, the same with Sweet Chastity. Ron Embleton's artwork is stunning. I have a Fine+ copy of this I got a secondhand store years ago. Most of Embleton's artwork is hard to find, at least here in the States. It took a long time to find his Wulf of Briton hardcover and a lot of his historical books are hard to find. A few years back I bought an Embleton page of art; sadly not his Penthouse stuff (still on the hunt), its a gorgeous page, one of his Princess magazine pages from the 60s.

Wanda is well drawn, but can't compare to Annie. Basically a pulp story where Annie commented on what was going on in the culture and was often experimental and innovative in execution (as long as she ended up naked in the last panel).

Took advantage of Last Gasp's 55% off sale to buy a chunk of books. Worked out to less than $6 each.

This was my last purchase of '23 but it just arrived in today's mail. I am usually reluctant to do much with Lonestar recently, but I won this in their auction, '50s Kubert story for less than $10. so I rounded the order and picked up 2 of the 6 issue of the 70s Ghost Rider series I needed (though I will likely never get #1 & 2, so I now only need 2 issues to have #3-81). I also checked their $1 sale that week and they had a bunch of the Gladstone Albums for $1 each, so I snagged them all. Couldn't pass these up for $1 each as I usually see them for $10-$20 each when I see them at cons. -M

Wasn't planning on going comic hunting today, but yesterday my lcs had its roof spring a leak in the heavy rain we got over the last 2 days, and they had a bookcase of DC trades get some damage, so I decided to take the ride in and pick up my pulls to support their cause today, but it was a small week for new stuff, so I grabbed a handful of back issues while I was there. Some Gladstone Uncle Scrooge and Scrooge Adventures, and a handful of DH Conan from the series after Wood's CTB (Slayer & Avenger)that I had skipped when they were coming out but I've heard some good things about so I am slowly picking them up when I see them. -M
