I bought the Batman Silver Age Omnibus vol. 1, which I got at a discount because of a couple dents in the cover. I didn't know until a few days ago that the Batman Golden Age Omnibi had reached their endpoint and this first Silver Age Omnibus took over where that series left off.

I have all but three or four of the Batman stories from Detective Comics reprinted in that volume. Soon you’ll be reading about the Bat-Tank and Batarang X and that time Batman and Robin had to figure out their secret identities after getting hit with an amnesia ray!

I just read the amnesia ray story a couple hours ago. They would've solved that one a lot quicker if Batman was wearing his cowl with his name sewed into it. And those stories were from the same month!

So how did you like the one with the amnesia ray! I love that one!

And those stories were from the same month! I’ve never read the one where Bruce Wayne’s name is sewed into the lining of the cowl. That makes no sense! It's the cover story from Batman #101. There's a flimsy reason for it, but the main reason is to have a plot device to drive a story. I like it, even though unlocked memories of one's identity don't seem necessary for remembering the criminals' plot. The stories so far are fun if you just suspend disbelief and enjoy the gimmick of the particular story.

And I finally got the very last Spire Archie comic I needed to complete all 19. This was extremely hard to get in high grade but we got one.... Now that you have all the Spires, see if you can find all four of the Logos comics from the 70s. I've never seen two of the four, and my father worked for Logos. www.comix35.org/ChristianComicsInternational.org/series_logos.html

Was that associated w/ the Logos stores (which, around here anyway, were christian bookstores usually near college campuses)? No, Logos the publisher produced books and a bimonthly magazine ( Logos Journal, later merged into Charisma). My father was managing editor of the magazine. Just today I've learned that the company still exists; it was renamed in 1981 and is now called Bridge Logos Inc. - www.bridgelogos.com/About_Us.htmlThe bookstores are still around: logosbookstores.weebly.com/"The Association of Logos Bookstores is a non-profit, member-owned, trade association comprised of 17 independent Christian bookstore members located in the U.S., Canada and the Bahamas."They both chose the name because of its theological meaning - "the Word of God, or principle of divine reason and creative order" according to Oxford.

That book is the same story as The Cross and the Switchblade, which Spire adapted. The C & the S was written by the minister who went to the ghetto to work with gang members; RBR was written by the gang leader who was the first to convert. You don't often get two perspectives on the same events.

Treated myself to four comics off my Wants List. Got a couple of Englehart era Doctor Strange issues -- British price variants -- that nudge me just a little closer to completeing his run on the character. Also, picked up Angle & The Ape #5, which again nudges me a step closer to finishing that short, but hard to find (especially here in the UK), run. Lastly, I picked up Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. #4 for a reasonable price and in not too shabby condition. This comic features one of my very favourite Silver Age covers, so I'm pleased to finally have a copy in my collection (even with a 1 shilling price stamp on it!).

The Nick Fury looks in great condition, by my standards. The price stamp wouldn't bother me much at all.
Doctor Strange #11 and #13 are two personal favourites from the time when I was just getting back into Marvel comics after a couple years away. Funny you got those two because I missed #12 at the time myself due to the usual inconsistent distribution and wasn't able to read it until years later.

Yeah, I have no idea what its actual grade would be, but its in solid condition, with nice firm staples, no damage to the pages, no creases to the cover etc. I'm very happy with it. I have issue #12 in my collection already, so it'll be good to be able to read what happened before and after it!

I just love pence variants....and love it when dealers treat them like second-rate distant cousins to their US counterparts and sell them off cheaply...it's estimated only 1%-2% of the total print run made it to actual UK retail (after damaged copies were removed) so they are genuinely scarcer.
I'm trying to add as many bronze-age UK variant #1s to my stash, even if they are books I don't usually collect (like Omega the Unknown)...Ghost Rider #1 will be my biggest prize if I score one.....
