So this just happened. Nice purchase, man. Looks a little beat up, but that wouldn't bother me one jot. That's a well loved comic that has given some young kid (or potentially a number of kids) a lot of entertainment in its lifetime. I'd love to have that in my collection. I'm debating buying it myself. A guy close to my place is selling one for 70$, not in a great shape (I'd say like yours) but I already spent more than 100$ this week on comics (see a few post above), and a local store is closing and having a 50% sale where I want to buy Charles Burns, Love and Rockets and Don Rosa books. Everything happening at the same time!

When I made my weekly trip to the LCS today, one of the guys who works there told me he had something cool to show me. The owner had picked up a collection on one of the previous weekends and they had just put out in the case; most of them are in really nice condition, and the rest are in nice condition: Captain America #100 (already own it in floppie) Daredevil #2 Incredible Hulk #102 X-Men #10 (already own it in floppie) Doctor Strange #169 (first DS "solo" issue, continuing the numbering from Strange Tales) Tales of Suspense #46 (first Crimson Dynamo) Silver Surfer #1 (they also have a #3 and #4 that they were still processing and grading) And the book that made me drool and almost made me cancel my plans to go to Cincinnati in September for the Comic Expo: Iron Man #1. Even though it's in really nice shape, buying this would eat up almost my entire comics budget for the rest of the year and would scuttle the aforementioned trip to Ohio, so I am going to pass...for now. I think we shop at the same place. That's the batch of books my DD #2 came from.

The spine is kinda beat, but both covers are complete and the interior pages are in nice shape. I actually passed on it when the guy at store showed it to me, but ended up going back that evening to get it.

Checking your profile, I'd assume you're right. Phantom, in Monroeville? That's the place. I've been shopping there since before Roy bought it, so it's been at least 25 years. Great little store, and I'm glad he's starting to pick up some more classic stuff, which is really what I'm focused on.

Was at an independent book store today (I love that some are still thriving) where they had four random rag-tag Comico books thrown in a corner for a dollar a piece. I grabbed Mage #6 both because it contained part of the Grendel: Devil By The Deed story, and also because apparently no one noticed it had been signed on the cover by Matt Wagner.
Not bad for a buck.

I am actually pumped up to open and read these two comic books. I just purchased earlier today.

Second batch of books from NEO Comicon (this is the really good stuff): I had the other three Doctor Who issues of this series, so I figured I would go ahead and get this one as well: This was the last Black Panther issue of Jungle Action I needed to complete the run ("The first shall be last...") This was the last issue of Iron Man I needed to complete the run: Just one more issue (#2) left to get to complete my Ghost Rider run after picking up this one:

Picked up the hardcover Amazing Spider-Man graphic novel "Spirits of the Earth" for a steal on eBay last week. This one has been on my wants list for a long while, but it was either too elusive or too expensive, so I'm happy to have found this for such a low price. I'm going away to Scotland early next month and this comic is set there (apparently Mary Jane Watson has inherited a Scottish castle or something ), so I'm gonna take it with me and give it a read up there.

Nice haul there, Richard...some real classic in that lot, especially the Howard the Duck and Red Sonja issues. And it's awesome that you're able to share your love of comics with your daughter.
