Picked up this little beaut. My little brother had Bat Lash #1 from when we were kids and I always liked that issue. Hoping to some day complete that run since it is limited but when this came up for auction I couldn't resist

Nice haul there, Richard...some real classic in that lot, especially the Howard the Duck and Red Sonja issues. And it's awesome that you're able to share your love of comics with your daughter. Thanks a lot. She picked up a few Doctor Who comics (the current stuff) and I got her a couple of issues of Marvel Team-Up to fill a gap in her collection. The majority of those Bronze Age books cost me less than $3, with a high percentage of those being $2 or less and most being $1. It's sad that such classic books are so poorly valued, but good for those of us who want them.

Snag them while you can! Heaven forbid the moment a TV show is announced those books will bump up. Seems like every few weeks a couple old comic books get a bump in value for that reason alone.

It's been ages since I've purchased any back issues at a shop or even a local convention. Today I went to a local show where the main attraction was Haley Atwell, Agent Carter herself. While her line was super long and had no interest in meeting her, it give free up the lanes to check out some of the dealers. I went mainly for underground and hard to find type items, I did pretty good. I picked up: - Wonder Woman #300 - Swamp Fever #1 - Teenage Horizon Shangrila (Grass Green underground goodness) - Fugitoid #1 - Witzend #10 and the killer find was Lone Sloane: Delirius by Druillet

I remember Fugitoid showing up in the TMNT comic. Wasn't impressed with his appearance there, but I always liked the licensed action figure. I guess he made an appearance in the TMNT cartoon?

I was at the Wizard World Chicago show over the weekend. The show was a disappointment in some aspects, but I did score a bunch of Bronze Age books, mostly $1.00 or $2.00 each:
Amazing Adventures #4, 9 (Inhumans and Black Widow) Beowulf #3, 4 Brave and the Bold #51 (Aquaman & Hawkman), 59 (Batman & Green Lantern) Creatures on the Loose #16, 17 (Gullivar Jones), 27 (Thongor) Daredevil #108 DC Special #20 (Green Lantern) DC Special Series #11 (Flash Spectacular) Detective Comics #481 (the first "Batman Family"-themed issue. Been looking for an affordable copy of this for years, and got it here for 4 bucks) Hercules Unbound #4 Hulk #185, 187, 189 Hulk Annual #6 Jimmy Olsen #151, 152 Marvel Chillers #2 (Modred the Mystic) Marvel Premiere #43 (Paladin) Marvel Spotlight #26 (Scarecrow) Master of Kung Fu #17 Rima the Jungle Girl #7 Sub-Mariner #51, 52 Superboy #192, 207 Super Friends #31 Superman #255, 256, 290 Superman Family #184, 218 Swamp Thing #21, 23 Tomb of Dracula #66 Wanted, The World's Most Dangerous Villains #3, 9 Weird Wonder Tales #22 (Dr. Druid)

Great haul, JKCarrier! I love the variety and randomness, and the fact that most were $1-2 is a bonus.

Action Comics #515 Action Comics #516 Marvel Premiere #52 Mickey Mouse #143 (Gold Key, 1973) Mickey Mouse #76 (Dell, 1960) Uncle Scrooge #191 (Whitman, 1980) Donald Duck #175 (Whitman, 1976) Star Trek #24 (Gold Key, 1974) DC Special Series #26 (Treasury Sized - "Superman and His Incredible Fortress of Solitude") Buck Rogers Giant Movie Edition (Marvel, Treasury Sized Edition)
The cool thing about "Superman and His Incredible Fortress of Solitude" is that, unlike many, if not most, Treasury sized comics, it is an all new story, not reprints, and by Roy Thomas, Ross Andru, and Romeo Tanghal - a grade A creative team!

Great haul, and the fact most of it was relatively cheap is just gravy. Also, in what ways was the show a "disappointment", in your opinion? I ask because Pittsburgh has a Wizard World show in September, and while I am not planning on going this year, I may decide to take the plunge in the future if I cannot find enough "ballroom" shows to give me my fix.

Also, in what ways was the show a "disappointment", in your opinion? There weren't a lot of creators there. Most of the guests were tv and movie people. Artist's Alley used to be full of people doing original self-published comics and zines, now it's just artists selling prints of Marvel and DC characters.

Artist's Alley used to be full of people doing original self-published comics and zines, now it's just artists selling prints of Marvel and DC characters. Having done tables selling original stuff and zines at cons and knowing how much you can sell in a typical weekend, and having looked at what Wizard World charges for a table on artist's alley a few years back when considering trying to do one of these, there is a very definite reason why those guys are no at the shows more often than not. Unless they are doing panels and get a deal from WW for the table costs, it is hard to break even on just the table costs let alone travel and food costs at a show like WW. Smaller shows with lower table costs will draw more of the self-published/zine creators where they have a chance of not losing their shirts for the weekend. -M

A graphic novel by Jamie Delano and David Lloyd, published by Marvel UK in 1991. Took me years to track it down.
