I have my #1 and 2 and some ideas to fill out 3-12, but nothing definite there yet. I have a bunch I liked as a kid, but I don't have much enthusiasm for them as an adult, but I might put on some nostalgia glasses to write up some entries for them on the lower end of my list. We'll see.

I'm mostly drawing a blank on non Marvel groups. I have a total of 3 DC entries and one of them is a crossover with Marvel.

I believe I have mine now. Some are British. Frustratingly, there appear to be no images of my choices. Quite hard at times to find decent images of obscure British strips.

Just read something for the first time this morning that is making the list. Man, I love this time of year!

Just want to make sure of something, Cei-U!: given the loose way you're defining teams, I'm hoping what are basically one-off team-ups between two baddies are acceptable - asking because that applies to 3 in my tentative list (including one from an inter-company crossover).

One-off team-ups are perfectly acceptable. (Good thing, too, because there are several on my list.)
Cei-U! I summon the one-and-dones!

Most excellent. Thanks.

I thought this theme might be too difficult for me, but now I'm having to make tough cuts.
I've had trouble distinguishing between groups and teams. I assume the villains must have actively decided to team together, as opposed to being a villainous horde of demons or some other such creatures created by a villain or organization, but what is it alright if the villains were forced to team together against their will? What about anti-heroes, or so-called tweeners in wrestling?

I think I've got 9 definites, and a bunch of possibles vying for the last 3 spots. So far it is all big two, and heavily skewed towards DC, but that just reflects my personal taste. Of course, not once in the history of this event has my final selection not changed during the actual 12 days, so we will see what unfolds. However, it is going to be absolutely impossible for me to shoehorn The Maze Agency into my list this year, as they only had one recurring villain, and he never teamed up with anyone.

The Tentative Twelve! Here's what I have so far...
7 DC 3 Marvel 2 Other
2 Duos 3 Trios 7 Groups of 4 and more
Like most of my lists that I do for these, I usually go on the fly and post whatever feels right to me. This will most likely change.

is it alright if the villains were forced to team together against their will? The rules don't forbid it. I'm guessing it comes down to how you rationalize it. The Punisher is an "anti-hero," but does he ever act the part of a "villain" in his stories? Sub-Mariner, on the other hand...

Yes The Punisher is the hero of the book but the acts he does in regular society, i.e. stone cold murder, is square in the villain territory to the public. I have a couple selections that I'm using that ideology for why they make my list.

but what is it alright if the villains were forced to team together against their will? I have one of these. Honestly this has been pretty hard. It's been a long time since I've read much in the way of superhero books. I've come up with 11, but it's been a hard time.
