Superman: Lost #1Written by Priest Art by Carlo Pagulayan Summary: After her husband leaves on a call Lois Lane wakes up to a distressed Superman in the living room and Bruce Wayne on her doorstep. Plot: While Priest is no stranger to the world of Batman and the darker corners of the DC Universe I believe this may be his first real Superman story which is more than enough reason to pick the book up. Is it any good outside of the curiosity of Priest doing Superman though? In short, absolutely. While this book was almost entirely exposition it's clear and concise and the mystery, although fairly straight forward, definitely grabs you the moment the twist is sprung. Sometimes a simple set up is all you need, and this plot of Lois falling asleep while working on a story while her husband heeds a call to intervene in a military skirmish and waking up to discover it wasn't an ordinary call after all is pretty simple for a superhero comic but what makes it more than that was the excellent execution of all that build up. Priest excelled in giving us first a short snap shot of Lois and Clark's domestic life that while quick gave an amazing amount of characterization and that domesticity was only highlighted even further than the crisp action of the Justice League responding to what they thought was a routine case that goes bad. And the cherry on the top? Bruce Wayne appearing on Lois' doorstep to give her the horrible news shocking both Lois and Bruce that Clark is right there in the living room. Where did Superman go? What happened to him? These are questions as simple as the premise itself but they are no less tantalizing for their simplicity. I'm a little concerned that this is a ten part story as it's simplicity does suggest a much shorter run time, so I'm hoping it doesn't get stretched too thin but for now I'm super excited to see this play out. Art:The art from Pagulayan,is likewise simple(nearly "house style" but none the less incredibly solid. The overall look of the comic is very slick and the line work and figure work are both excellent. Grade:9/10

I'll have to see what the cover price is.. I might wait for the trade on this, but I'll definitely read it at some point.

The new Justice Society series has been a disappointment. It feels more like a Huntress story with some JSA cameos. After the long wait for the JSA this is not what I expected or wanted to read.

This issue in particular was disappointing as we already had an issue where Huntress goes to a different point in time, meets the JSA and then has to explain who she is and what the threat is. I don't mind the mystery plot with Per Degeton but two issues without any forward momentum is just frustrating.

So far it's a definite must read, I just worry that there might not be enough to the concept to warrant going on for ten issues. We really don't need multiple issues of Superman fighting weird aliens half way across the galaxy in order to get back home...especially as they basically just did that story.
