I'm not really at all familiar with this character, but a friend suggested I give him a go, so where would be a great starting point for me? Any suggestions? Links if possible?
Is this the proper forum for this question? I apologize if it isn't, I don't typically start threads. Thanks!

For the older Silver Age stuff, I would check out the Showcase volumes if you don't mind the black and white format... or the more expensive Archives if you want it in color. Not sure how others here feel about it, but I quite liked the 3 issue Prestige format mini done by Riucchard Bunning anmd the Kubert brothers-Adam Strange-Man of Two Worlds... and also thoroughly enjoyed the 8 issue mini by Andy Diggle and Pasqual Ferry collected as Planet Heist in trade.... -M

You've chosen the right place, as well as a good question to ask. I myself have never read Adam Strange outside of the Rann-Thanagar War Infinite Crisis tie-in. I'd imagine his Golden Age adventures might be a good start. There's a DC Archives edition.

You could find some of the stuff hereSome of it cheaper, some not. I've never ordered through them, but I know folks here who have and have been satisfied with their service. -M

I actually remember liking the Rann-Thanagar War... and that being one of the better parts of 52.

Their Marketplace prices are usually cheaper than Amazon, but when they're not they may be cheaper on their actual site. The trade off, if you're buying just one thing, is shipping is better with Marketplace ($3.99) but for multiple items their site is $6.99 flat rate. They also do a great job packing books, so they don't end up damaged.

I have bought from them before. I think I bought my New Mutants TPBs from them, and they do have great service. And the books I bought I could NOT have gotten a better price on.

Diggle's Adam Strange is my favorite. Well worth picking up. Pasqual Ferry really uppsed his game for that series.
Also, there was a one-shot that was part of the celebration of Julie Schwartz' life in comics when he passed away that I remember being a really interesting comic. Probably the best of those Julie one-shots.

He hadn't appeared much in the previous years-- I think he lasted appeared in a MArk Waid fill-in during Grant Morrison's JLA run. It's also a great introduction to Vril Dox and L.E.G.I.O.N and the Omega Men. Can't recommend it highly enough.

The story was self contained and gives brief history on the major players and places. Art is fantastic too in my opinion. Suits the science fiction feel of the story.
