Getting entirely too worked up by a comment someone left on the People In White Coats facebook page, where I imprudently wished happy holidays to everyone. Apparently that innocent wish warranted an all-caps correction stating "IT'S MERRY CHRISTMAS, not happy holidays".
Because there's nothing like pissing in the punch bowl.

People do understand that the whole world isn't Christian don't they and that other cultures' and religion's celebrations and traditions this time of the year are different? Or is they're just ignorant of the world around them?

But in general ...)

Technically, it should be Happy Saturnalia. On behalf of fans of ancient Roman paganism everywhere, I take offense!

Getting ready to meet members of my dads side of the family I had never met before. I'd rather not but I feel obligated. When strangers are just incredibly nice to you and always inviting you over. But they really are strangers to me. I don't have any ill will toward them, but I'm 34 years old and lived my whole life without that family so it seems odd to me showing up for holidays and stuff at this point. I don't know anybody. Also, we're in completely different economic classes and it shows, bad. A whole lot of "Why don't you just take the week off?" coming from people who live on private golf courses.

Not sleeping. It's 330am. Been trying for the last hour and couldn't do it. So I'm going to do some dishes and then maybe play some video games till I have to leave for work.

Getting ready to start my last day of work for the year, after which I will not step foot back into my office until January 5, 2015.

Back at work for the first time since Thursday, 12/11, other than 3 hours the following Monday morning to get some things set up during my ensuing vacation.
Turns out we're getting off at noon for Xmas Eve. And that my clueless supervisor has been gone at least a couple of days.
I can live with that.

Got a screw in my tire last night. Had to leave work early today. I didn't call off though because the tire shop is closed anyway, so that's where I'll spend my morning tomorrow. Hopefully they can plug it That happened to me last Thursday, or at least I found out about it when I noticed my rear passenger-side tire was really low ... except that it turned out to be a nail, rather than a screw. It was easily plugged, but there was also a gash in the sidewall that could've developed into a blowout. If I'd been facing my normal 40 or so miles of driving a week, I'd have let it go, but all I needed was to have the tire go out while I was hell-bent for leather on the interstate to & from Shreveport, my annual December drive to which was scheduled to start the next afternoon. Plenty of tread left on the tire, I was told, but just in case ... Couldn't really afford the $105, under the circumstances, but all things considered I just knew I'd be courting disaster otherwise.

Getting ready to finally go home. Seven hours put in on a "day off". Now if I can just get through the next 36 hours or so without this damn phone ringing maybe I can enjoy the rest of the holiday. If I ever get out of this industry I'll never own a cell phone. I hate the damn things.
Edit: Watching Batman BatB with my boys. On the second episode Terror on Dinosaur Island! Dietrich Bader sing too bad as Batman. He ain't Kevin Conroy but damned better than Bale thank god.

Just finished the annual watching of A Christmas Story with my wife and girls.
The daughters are now building the Lego sets they got, the wife is doing the breakfast dishes, and I have nothing to do. Think I'll go read some comics.
