Settled a trial as the jury was watching the orientation video. Was a really good deal for my client getting a felony reduced to a misdemeanor.

Taxes It's not what I owe that's the problem, it's filling out these damn forms. I wish I could just hand them $500 and make it go away

I wish I could just hand them $500 and make it go away I know exactly what you mean here and I just spent 7 hours doing mine and I have to double and triple check my work to make sure that I got everything right. I just hate Tax Season. I did mine eight days ago and it's an ordeal that every American Citizen has to do on an annual basis.

About taxes: in 2014, after years of saying I'd never use the thing, I broke down and purchased a tax-filing program (the kind that's approved by the government and contains all the forms we might need). And... gotta eat some crow, I'll never go back to doing things by hand. For a meager fifty bucks or so, I got to do both my wife's and my taxes (federal and provincial) in a little under three hours, painlessly.
I can't say that the program helped me find deductions I didn't know about, the way the publicity says... but as far as ease of use goes, it was a wonder. No more looking for the proper form, no more finding what little box must be used for this or that number... And most importantly, no need to wait for all the paperwork (from my employer, from the bank etc.) to be in before starting inputing data. The program simply adjusts every total when I add new numbers.
I wouldn't say I look forward to doing it this year, but I don't feel as sick to my stomach as in the past.

I wouldn't even try it without a program. Even with the program I want to give up this year. I'm going to have my mom "help" me tomorrow. As in have her do it all while I watch.

Playing with a Wacom drawing tablet and Autodesk Sketchbook Express, seeing if I can get the hang of drawing on the computer via tablet rather than in pencil and paper format-more looking for an inking aid down the line, but need to get the hang of the hand/eye coordination required to use the tablet and program. It's something to kill the time as I do laundry (ugh!)

Just completed my taxes. Wasn't as bad as I had feared. I was told the tax rate was much higher for independent contractors, and at first it was, but the deductions really take a huge chunk out of it. Your gross and net incomes are very different at the time and you are taxed on the net income, which really made a difference.
