Surprisingly for a DC movie, it looks fun.
Still probably not an "in the theatre" viewing, but I do want to see it.

Sensei Lawrence told him not to mess around with bugs. Not bad, though you can keep that auto-tuned noise away from me. Now, when do we get The Question and Captain Atom?

It does look fun but I had no idea it was coming out next month. There has been literally zero ads on this, I just went to Indiana Jones last night and there were no posters for this anywhere...but posters for films coming out next spring. I feel like WB is just dumping this for some reason.

Blue Beetle is crashing and burning, with a feeble $25,400,000 coming in since its 8/18 opening. The movie is a cartoony mess, feeling like a combination of the horrid Ant-Man movies, and the MCU Spider-Man, and that is not a good thing. I guess it does not matter since this is the penultimate film in Warner Bros' DCEU, and the more the recent movies moved away from its strengths, the more the films come off like bad superhero movies & TV pilots from the 90s.

That sounds like a positive to me, I loved the Antman films and the Marvel Spider-Man films...and so does the general audience so I don't think that's the reason it isn't lighting the box office on fire.

Yeah, it not being the standard DC edgelord Snyder mess is a selling point for me.

^...apparently, its not a selling point to anyone else, as Blue Beetle (or possibly Ant-Man 4 / Spider-Man 4 in DC trappings) is not the kind of DC film audiences wanted to see, hence the disastrous lack of interest / box-office.

You know, not to undersell the film's obvious shortcomings, but are DC fans ever happy with the recent film adaptations of the company's properties?

I'm confused. Blue Beetle was the #1 movie in the US last week. How is that a disaster?
Top Box Office (US) Weekend of August 18-20 10 Titles
Blue Beetle (2023) 1. Blue Beetle Weekend Gross: $25M Total Gross: $36M Weeks Released: 1 6.7 (18K)
Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie in Barbie (2023) 2. Barbie Weekend Gross: $21M Total Gross: $582M Weeks Released: 5 7.4 (257K)
Cillian Murphy in Oppenheimer (2023) 3. Oppenheimer Weekend Gross: $11M Total Gross: $293M Weeks Released: 5

25m is not good... movies typically make 1/2 or more of the money the 1st weekend. That tracks to come in well under 100m total, with a budget of 104m.

Saw it today. It was OK. Yeah I could see the Ant-Man similarities. I hate once again that most of the movie was filmed at night. I really don't like this trend. The good - the focus on family. I also liked how Ted Kord was a big part of the movie without physically appearing in it. Also can't understand why WB didn't promote this movie more. Or even Aquaman 2 - there wasn't a trailer for it. I also feel super hero movie fatigue is a factor.

I also feel super hero movie fatigue is a factor. I've seen numerous places/people say that, but I think it's more of a disdain for lackluster movies
