Does anyone here have a secret room or door in their homes? I don't but my paternal grandparents did. The entrance to their attic was a false wall in a closet. I loved going under the hanging clothes and pulling the latch at floor level and the back wall swung open leading to steps going into the attic.

The second house I lived in had the stairwell to the second storey concealed behind a hinged bookcase. That and watching The Changeling at that age probably explains my affinity for horror/mystery stories which feature concealed rooms.

If I had a hidden room in my house I would never leave it.

My house isn't big enough to have a hidden cupboard.

I love the idea of them but I've never seen one in real life.

Does anyone here have a secret room or door in their homes? I mean, if I did, am I going to tell everybody here? What kind of secret is that?!

Access to the crawlspace under the house is thru a hatch in a storage area under the staircase. The only sign of it is a handle in middle of the floor in this storage space. The first inspector we hired before buying the house didn't notice the hatch handle so he told us there was no access under the house.

Aside from the access to the attic not exactly being in an open and accessible place, no. The access hatch for it was in a hall closet.. No fold down ladder or similar thing; just a hatch in the ceiling and you needed a chair or ladder to get up there. Needless to say, it was never used for storage (we had a basement).
I used to fantasize that our living room bookcase, to the right of our fireplace, slid aside to reveal batpoles, to the basement, but, that was about it. We did have a laundry chute, inside a storage closet, in the bathroom that led to the basement, where the washer and dryer were installed. I never tried dropping through it, as it was concrete below and I knew the canvas laundry "basket" that caught the clothes was not going to hold me, if I dropped into it.

Our laundry chute is 12 inches square, so no batpoles here.

I would LOVE to have a secret room hidden behind a swinging bookshelf or something. It would be a fun place to keep some comics and whiskey.

Our laundry chute is 12 inches square, so no batpoles here. Maybe Dollman lived there before you.
