Comics Hun updates as my shop gets orders in form each of its distributors, so there might be something added tonight or tomorrow, but right now it looks like just 3 this week
TMNT/Usagi Yojimbo #2 SHAZAM! #1 (same team as World's Finest so gave it a hot even though I am not much of a fan of the post Flashpoint iteration of Shazam) Avengers War Across Time #5 (I think this is the final issue, which is good because it's been a bit disappointing to me).
plus whatever I get for FCBD on Saturday 9looking to get the Conan book form Titan and the Red Sonja preview form Dynamite, plus whatever catches my eye on the tables).

On the other forum I'm on, I post the list for Diamond and Lunar every week.
My comics for this week:
BOOM! STUDIOS
BUFFY LAST VAMPIRE SLAYER LOST SUMMER #1 > My sister is still a fan of Buffy, so I buy every issue that comes out.
IMAGE COMICS
STARSIGNS #1 > A maybe, I've liked Ahmed's work before, but it was never that much of a buy. I tend to like writers more on their own creations, so I'll take a look.
MARVEL COMICS
IMMORTAL X-MEN #11 > waiting for trade MOON KNIGHT #23 > waiting for trade X-MEN BEFORE THE FALL SONS OF X #1 > this is actually the last issue of Legion of X. They did the same thing with Way of X and I hate this. Just do a final issue, don't rename the series for 1 issue that will inevitably be missed from your pull list.

Shazam #1Written by Mark Waid Art by Dan Mora Summary: After rescuing a lost baby space dinosaur The Captain(ug!) mysteriously has his image seriously damaged in the eyes of the public. Plot: Hot on the heals of his awesomely fun run on World's Finest Waid sets his sights on delivering his up-beat, action packed story telling to the world of Captain Marvel...who is now just called The Captain. And while I don't care for the new sobriquet I can't deny that Waid knows how to tell a fun story with Billy Batson. We start off with the Captain rescuing a lost space dinosaur before seeing an update on Billy Batson's old career: instead of a radio reporter he's now the head of a youtube channel based on sharing stories about the Captain which allows him to collect news on places he should be helping out and interact with the community at large which is a great idea. And while I'd prefer more of the zaniness like rescuing the dinosaur the mystery that Waid introduces at the end with the two shadowy figures( possibly Zeus and Hercules) sabotaging Billy looks like it might be fun too so I'm definitely locked in for more. Art: As always, Mora delivers some amazing visuals throughout the issue. The art is bright, vibrant and beautifully detailed and best of all the Captain has the squinty eyes! Grade:8/10

Shazam #1. Mark Waid & Dan Mora.
First of all I love Capt Marvel. Always have. However a lot of times creators don't get what makes him (and Jr and Mary) unique. Too many times he is written like a less powerful version of Superman. Waid gets the character and leans into what makes him special. This is a fun book. Light hearted. And Waid does a great job in one issue summing up past adventures and moving in a new direction. Of course having Mora as artist just makes this title look amazing. Here's hoping for a decent run longer than 12 issues.

Batman 135 Shazam 1 (got to see if Waid can restore him back to glory) Scarlet Witch 5 Hmmm Scarlet Witch is on my pull list, I will have to see why it wasn't in Comics Hub for me. -M Mystery solved, The store got shorted their copies of Scarlet Witch #5, so it wasn't in Comics Hub because they didn't get any in. It will hopefully show up with next week's order. -M

Short Takes...
Conan #0 FCBD-Promising start to the Titan series, a quick retelling of the Battle of Venarium ina dialogueless series, Zub's captions and the art capture the Howardian tone/voice well.
Frazettaverse #0 FCBD-nice sampler of the various Frazetta series coming from Opus. Nice recap story of Death Dealer setting up the next art with great art from Richard Case, in a style I hadn't seen form him previously, but it's been a hot minute since I have seen him on a series, the Mothman preview has me intrigued as well.
Red Sonja #0 FCBD-another preview of an upcoming series that looks good. I liked Geovani's stuff on the Gail Simone run, glad to see him back, and the new writer (Torunn Gronbekk) has a good grasp of Sonja's character. Classic Marvel reprint thrown in to boot.
Shazam #1 good debut by Waid and Mora, look forward to more. Captures the spirit of what I like about the character and downplayed the elements I didn't like of Johns' revamp of the character.
Parker Girls #7-stiff just got real as Terry Moore turned up the intensity this issue, the slow build has kicked into high gear.
TMNT/Usagi #2-simply loving this so far. Sakai is such a master storyteller and a master of his craft. Pure gold.
Avengers: War Across Time #5. It's over. a 5 issue series that simply spun its wheels for 5 issues telling a story between panels/issues of the classic run that added nothing to the characters or the story. Davis inking himself lacked the charm and vibrancy his art usually displays, so not even that was a draw here. Utterly forgettable mini and very disappointing. Avengers vs. Kang is one of my absolute favorite things in super-hero comics and this delivered on none of the promise such a matchup offers.
