Betty Pages #4 (1989)
adamwarlock2099 -- I hate to be "that guy", but while I love the cover, I'm pretty sure that The Betty Pages would not qualify as a comic book, but rather a fanzine. The copy that I personally own consists of about 60% articles and 40% photos... no comics except for a few spot illustrations. Yes, I know it is offered through mycomicshop.com, but so is Famous Monsters of Filmland.
Any other thoughts, or am I being too pedantic?

tartanphantomIt's been a long while since it has been done, but people have used things like Marvel Age and Amazing Heroes as entries in the past, and while there were objections, it always defaulted to let the voters decide. So I am inclined to follow that precedent for all covers that are at least comic adjacent unless something is more recent than the 10 year requirement. But others may disagree. -M

I don't think it qualifies, but at the time the voting, the other participants will decide.

I would say that Amazing Heroes and Marvel Age qualify more, as they were fanzines about comics and published in a comic book format. The Betty Pages was a Bettie Page fanzine, done in a digest format, that was almost exclusively about her pin-up photos and film loops, as well as other models and and pin-up subjects. What little comic book content there was included a look at Steranko's work and Dave Stevens' Rocketeer. So, I would vote on the negative, in this particular instance; but, I also think it is a great cover (homage, actually). These things are supposed to be in the spirit of fun; so, I'd hate to see us get too restrictive about these things.

I thought of Lidsville; but, they didn't have a nice cover of Hoodoo, in his flying top hat. Man, the 70s were weird!

It is in the spirit of fun and I like seeing all kinds of covers that I'm not familiar with. On the other hand, people that are sticklers for rules will not vote for it. It's easier for a person to just enter an actual comic book with art that tells a sequential story. This is not exactly the subject with a small amount of possibilities.

A non-comics magazine in this contest is an affront to all that is holy. Adamwarlock is a witch!!
