I’m reading Peacemaker Tries Hard #4 right now at a coffee shop and it is hilarious.
I also got Justice Society of America #5 and Scarlet Witch #7, and they are both pretty good.
I haven’t got to Hey Kids! Comics! yet, but it’s sitting here on the table.

I haven’t got to Hey Kids! Comics! yet, but it’s sitting here on the table. Peacemaker continues to be one of my favorite books out right now. I'm not usually a fan of humor comics but this really has a fantastic mix of over the top action, humor and deep down a legitimate amount of heart that it's really won me over. It's a lot like the show(and the film it spun off of) in that regard, I was predisposed to dislike both but ended up loving both for the same reason so I should have been more open to the book than I was at the start. I loved the use of Snowflame here, I honestly had to look him up as I had never heard of him before. I thought maybe he was a one off from one of those anti-drug promotional comics from the 80's, but no, he was a legitimate character and yes cocaine really does give him his powers. I didn't read any of the books he originally appeared in so I'm sure he was turned up to eleven here and I'm 100% alright with that.

Not a great week for me. Moon Knight & Dr Strange were "interlude" issues highlighting the villain of each arc. Not bad they just feel like fill ins and the story feels paused. Justice Society is the final issue of the first arc. An epic fail in re-launching this title. A really convoluted and unnecessary way to feature this fan favorite team. Really there is so much easier and satisfying ways to make this title a winner. Dropped.

Conan #1. from Titan Comics. Great art. A mix of John Buscema and Joe Kubert. Well done. However I was underwhelmed by the story. I expect a #1 to wow me and want me to finish the first arc. This didn't happen. It was an OK Conan story but nothing amazing. I'm not sure whether or not this run on Conan will be successful.

Yeah, Justice Society was pretty disappointing; it was just so disjointed that I felt like I had missed an issue here at the end because it just seemed to end with out warning.

While I would have rather had more forward momentum in Moon Knight I really enjoyed learning more about Hunters Moon. I loved the bit about the cave man moon knight and how it took over his body, I'd kill for a whole issue focused on the first fist back in the stone age.

How hard can it be to tell good JSA stories? Either put them back on Earth 2. Or have their stories set in the 1970s. I mean do we really need them interacting with today's heroes? If so just have legacy versions for modern stories. Plus there are reasons for keeping some of them long lived like Green Lantern and Power Girl and a few others. And I wouldn't mind some untold tales set post WWII.

I don't know, my favorite run was by Johns and set in the then modern era and I loved having them as the elder statesmen helping train the heroes of tomorrow. Period stories are fun too but long term the JSA sort of being Superhero University is a great concept I'd like to see again.

I actually really liked Hunter's Moon getting his own story in Moon Knight He's a cool character and is definitely worth the spotlight. Also, Khonshu have Mole People followers? That's just fun.
I still haven't decided yet if I like my Iron Man mixed in with the X-Men. On the one hand, it certainly is worlds better than Cantwell, so I'm happy about that. But Tony losing his company and restarting from the ground up has been done several times.. and recently multiple times. I also don't know about him and Emma Frost as a thing... feels weird.
Steelworks continues to be a book I feel like I should love, but it's just kinda there. I think there's just too many Super people to have any sense of danger.
Black Cloak finished up the first arc with a bang and a promise of a 2nd one... the letters page implied poor sales though, which is a shame for such a fun, original book.

I'm with you on Steelworks, I really want to love it as I like Steel and Michael Dorn is a national treasure so I'd love for him to do well...but it just doesn't do it for me.

Yet another Iron Man run that I dropped a few issues in. I can't remember the last Iron Man run I have liked in awhile.
