Immortal Thor #1. This new volume is written by Al Ewing who wrote the Immortal Hulk series. The first issue sort of sets up the new status quo for Thor. I'm not sure what happened in the last Thor series since I stopped reading it when Cates and Klein left the book. So Thor is back in his classic costume with a restored hammer. He is still King of Asgard. He is written as a person caught between 2 worlds - Asgard and Midgard (earth). Most of the issue is set up for a new conflict that forms the basis for this series. Overall it was a sentimental issue with Thor feeling happy until the end. The issue didn't wow me but I will try the next issue.

Yeah, unlike the explosive start to Immortal Hulk I'm not really sure what the concept is here just yet. There's certainly an emphasis on mythology and storytelling and I enjoyed the inclusion of the Utgard gods but it's unclear what it all means other than yet another test of Thor's worthiness.
