Aquaman Special. 3 prequel stories to the upcoming movie featuring Aquaman & Mera, Manta, and Orm. They set up some plot details that will be in the movie. I liked the Aquaman and Manta stories. The Orm one was just ok. For me it was great just reading a new Aquaman story. I just wish we could get a new Aquaman series.

Dr Strange. the penultimate issue of the General Strange arc. Strange and Clea go up against the General and it looks like having friends and family will help Stephen defeat his alternate evil persona... Also beautiful art by Ferry.

Supergirl Special. with the revamp of the Superman titles I feel one thing DC did wrong was rapidly expand the Superman family. It left classic members sort of ignored. First DC addressed this with series for Conner/Superboy and Power Girl. Now we get a one shot that addresses Supergirl. I only picked this up because Tamaki wrote it. She does a great job focusing on Kara and us readers that feel the classic characters got ignored in favor of newer characters. Going forward I hope we see more of Kara. I especially liked her interactions with Superboy, Power Girl and Lois. Especially since the new direction for Power Girl isn't good we need more Supergirl.

The Midnite Show #2Written by Cullen Bunn Art by Brian Hurt Summary: It's not just monsters stalking the streets of Cedar Bluffs now, but the whole town is becoming part of the movies. Plot: Cullen Bunn's Midnite Show continues to be a love letter to the classic Universal and Hammer monster movies. And while the first issue was mostly set up for who Basil Saxon was and what his movies were like with a little tease of the monsters themselves things escalated real quick in this issue as the monsters took center stage and really began to terrorize the town. And while the main cast often feels like the group from something like a Freddy vs. Jason film, doing little more than just running from the different creatures and hoping to not get caught in the crossfire with little in the way of characterization it is none the less a fun thrill ride. I don't know if the story will become something that really says something about the horror genre like I was initially hoping but there is more than enough to enjoy and it's not with out some creativity as I loved the idea of a werewolf turned into a vampire which I don't think has been done on film before. Art: Hurtt delivers some beautifully detailed art that perfectly captures the tone of the story. The visuals really do the heavy lifting here with the thin plot being made enjoyable by the awesome creature designs. Grade: 8/10

White Widow #1Written by Sarah Gailey Art by Alessandro Miracolo Summary: After a close encounter with Captain America, Yelena chooses to start a new life in suburbia but it isn't a boring as it seems. Plot: Outside of her role in the Black Widow movie and the Hawkeye show on Disney+ (both of which I loved) I had never heard of Yelena but I instantly loved her. As such, I don't know if this was a large departure from what came before but I really enjoyed the sort of cutesy day in the life of Yelena as she settles into her new life in suburbia. There's a fun supporting cast in her dog Bint Clarton(who is adorable) and her neighbor Zelda and the mystery of a mega-corporation buying up small town America for nefarious purposes is definitely compelling. It's fast paced and light hearted with a good mix of action so I'm definitely looking forward to more. Art: Miracolo's art is light, fun and slick which really fit the tone of the story. More than the great action, I think my favorite visual element though were the check lists of Yelena's likes and dislikes as she explored her new home, it was a unique look and really added a fun component to the story. Grade:7/10

I almost pulled that because I do like Sarah Gailey, but the character doesn't do alot for me. Maybe when the collection hits Hoopla

I almost pulled that because I do like Sarah Gailey, but the character doesn't do alot for me. Maybe when the collection hits Hoopla I'd never even heard of the character until the Black Widow movie and picked this up purely based on the art and was pleasently surprised it was a fun book. I'll let you know if it continues to be good then!
