I still see guys walking around with spiral notebooks That's me at conventions or when I know I am going to a shop. I also have it as a googledoc that I use when I need my list unexpectedly, or if I am looking at comics online. I just find the notebook easier to navigate than trying to scroll back and forth on a doc on the phone at a con, and my old eyes don't appreciate the small size of the screen on a phone when trying to read it while flipping through boxes. I will also say, the notebook has gotten me better prices form a number of dealers who appreciate the old school comic buyers -M edit to add-having to double check the notebook against the googledoc when I update also helps me catch errors and omissions that I forgot to cross over when I acquired something.

Looking at my "active" want list, here are the series/runs I have a reasonable hope of completing:
Adventure Comics #438 (to complete the Spectre run) Arak, Son of Thunder (need 9 issues) Astonishing Tales #6 (hard to find at a decent price because it's the first appearance of Bobbi Morse, the future Mockingbird) Batman and The Outsiders/Adventures of The Outsiders (need 7 issues plus Annual #2) Chamber of Darkness #4 and 6 Invaders (need 8 issues) Justice League of America (I'm 4 issues away from having every issue from #100-260) Micronauts (need 5 issues to complete the first series) OMAC #5 Shade the Changing Man #5-8 Tower of Shadows #7 2001: A Space Odyssey #2-4 and 7 World's Finest Comics (5 issues from having every issue from #198-323)
If I could complete any five of the above by year's end, I'd be happy.
Cei-U! I summon the possibilities!

I still see guys walking around with spiral notebooks While I don't have a notebook anymore, I do carry a small Moleskine-like pocket sized notebook for my small list of books I'm searching for. I prefer it over the phone so I don't have to glance over my glasses to look at a screen compared to my chicken scratch.

Quite stubbornly, I don't do 'wants lists' or let dealers in the wild know what I'm looking for, unless I'm 100% sure they won't hike up the price knowing I am interested in it.
I've only erred twice buying something I thought I didn't have, but no biggie....I do a bit of fun retail as well so I just add it to the 'outbox'. I also buy up small runs just to get 1-2 books I need when it's advantageous to do that and either keep the extras as useful trades or as inventory. (I sold just over 400 books in 2023, almost a third of those in December alone).
I looked at this quite sadly....one I need but below (my finicky) standard so I had to pass....

I think I’m missing one issue of Kirbys OMAC series from the 1970s. I’ll have to look at my collection and see what issue it is and put it on the list.
And then there’s the 1970s Shade the Changing Man series. I bought #1, #2 and #9 when they were new. And I’ve bought two or three issues over the years, but right off hand I don’t remember which issues exactly. I’ll have to pull that out and look at my collection and put it on the want list.

Was Showcase #81 the only Windy and Willy? If so, then there are only 5 books to get as the series was only 4 issues.

Yes. By the way, did you know that the entire run of W&W consisted of Dobie Gillis reprints with the characters redrawn and the dialogue rewritten?

Nope, had to look it up and saw Dobie had a 26-issue run in the very early 60s (I've never seen one before until you mentioned it). Might check out a few of those out of curiousity now lol. I've added W&W to my get-list...already 20% there.....

I'm thinking it might be fun to finally finish my collection of Atlas/Seaboard this year. Of course, the non-superhero stuff is going to be a nightmare to track down at a reasonable price.

So they re-drew late-50s or early-60s Beatniks as late-60s or early-70s Hippies?
