When I was a young'n, the consensus among my little circle of comics fans was that DC had better characters but Marvel told better stories... except for the weird kid who was all about the Mighty Comics Heroes. Cei-U! I summon the pint-sized pariah! Hey, could have been worse, could have had that one kid who was a fan of the "Mighty Heroes" cartoon/comics I feel like a broken record at this point, but I really wish that Archie did more with their superheroes

Batflunkie said, "I feel like a broken record at this point, but I really wish that Archie did more with their superheroes." Yes indeed, but I will say that for all the hyperbolic abuse DC took for trying to imitate Marvel, the Archie attempt to bring back their gaggle of Golden Age heroes was camp on a cringeworthy level (Not that there's anything wrong with that, eh, DC go-go checks?), with maybe a small exception here or there. They copied Marvel's penchant for cutesy the creator nicknames, hauled in a 1960s folksinger who apparently sang without rhyming anything (a subtle dig at Dylan, or am I digging way too deep for subtext and postmodernism?)... All of it was good clean fun in search of a quick buck or two, courtesy veteran comics guys like Jerry Siegel and Paul Reinman and Archie guys Victor Gorelik and I presume, Richard Goldwater. amped up DC's "POW and "BAM" quotient... and took the Marvel soap opera style to an even more ridiculous level, courtesy the henpecked (pardon the anachronistic word) Web... and overdid the Marvel "heroes fighting each other" schtick...

I’ve never read any of the Archie superhero comics, but you make them sound kind of awesome!

(Mr. Trombone has asked me if I can review two issues in a row because of circumstances. So without further ado, here's JIM #125.) JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY #125February 1966 "When Meet the Immortals!" TO BE CONTINUED Another really good installment in the Asgardonauts serial in Tales of Asgard. My apologies for taking so long to answer your review.Vacation makes a person reeeaallllly lazy. This is my drawn on copy Comments: I agree with mr. X's sentiments on this issue. Just a great issue from Thors dispatching of the Demon to His raising his hammer to Hercules in battle. Just a great splash page . This book is Kirby at his best, forget FF, New Gods or any other series. The scene where Hercules takes the large tree off the tracks is sort of repeated in Avengers #99 Nobody draws scenes of battle like Kirby, impossible or not. I think when I first read this issue( also like Mr. X in Special Marvel Edition) I dropped it on the floor when Jane responded to Thor like this , in this panel. B***h!!!
So Heimdal has an URU sword? Is this another of those items that you never hear of again? Paging Cei-U! !!!! Stat!!! Tales of Asgard
Enjoyable chapter where we see Loki screw the pooch and make matters worse. I feel like I've seen this Kirby woman many times with different names. Still looks good. foxley what do you think ?

Tales of Asgard
Enjoyable chapter where we see Loki screw the pooch and make matters worse. I feel like I've seen this Kirby woman many times with different names. Still looks good. foxley what do you think ? Typically ugly Kirby artwork that people have somehow convinced themselves is brilliant. Look at those thick thighs. And what is going on with those skinny and deformed ankles and weird feet? Am I really the only person who sees this?
Perhaps we should re-evaluate Todd McFarlane's inability to draw feet as he was obviously only copying the so-called King, and Kirby's art is immune to criticism.

Should I assume foxley's comment is sarcasm, or just nuts?

I would not curtail my general criticism of how Colletta inked Kirby, especially on those sparse and under rendered backgrounds. (and of course the erasing). But the way he inked the muscled figures gave them a chiseled power that was wonderful. This issues splash, the cover of the next issue and especially the splash page of the one after that are prime examples. Splash of #127 might be my favorite.

I agree with Foxley... Kirby draws great battles and contraptions, but women are not his strong point.

He was not known for his women and they were not his strong point like Romita or Mooney. But foxley says "typical ugly Kirby artwork". Sorry, Kirby's art was never ugly.
Should also be noted that Kirby often did less than full pencils for Tales of Asgard and Vinnie finished them.

Is it wrong to start drooling when a Barry Smith page I've never seen shows up?
It's kind of Pavlovian.

The first page of issue #98 tells you what you have in store. And this came right after the last Kree Skrull War. You need to read them!
