I almost thought I was becoming allergic to my own dog for a while. I remember feeling like my eyes were getting puffy and my skin irritated unless he was fresh out of the bath. I don't get that anymore though. Weird.

I don't get that anymore though. Weird. Could it be that he had something like a fungal infection of his fur that you didn't even notice and you were allergic to the fungus instead?

Puffy eyes and irritated (itchy?) skin definitely sounds an allergy. Something the dog was coming into contact with, perhaps?

This is Jasmine, my 16 year old Beagle mix. She was originally my grandmother's dog, but when my grandmother passed on in 2013, I fully adopted her. I'd been living on the property since 2011 and pretty much taking care of her, and she grew up with me around a lot, so it was an easy transition. She's in phenomenal shape for a dog her age and can basically do everything she used to do just at a slower pace. She, of course, sleeps more and more as she ages. Still, I don't think I've ever seen a dog pushing 20 in such good physical condition.

These are my two monsters. The big girl was rescued from Chile , where they have a stray dog problem.

Puffy eyes and irritated (itchy?) skin definitely sounds like you've suffered radiation poisoning & will soon acquire superpowers. What you meant to say, I know.

I just found out the last year or so that there used to be a band called HP Lovecraft back in the late 60s. Haven't listened to them enough yet to say what I think, but the little I've heard sounds pretty typical of some of the heavier psych rock of the era - here's their Dreams in the Witch House album: Our mostly absent (at least in the Community threads ... I haven't paid attention to the Comics threads in months, to be honest) friend Confessor is something of an authority on them & at last report had authored most in not all of the Wikipedia entry on the band. As you would know if you'd kept up with the music threads on the CBR version of the forum, at least. Bad, bad berk.

This is Bella, our new Golden Labrador puppy. She was all adorable and stuff until she destroyed everything in our yard! Normal puppy problems, but we love her.

This is Bernie. I think he's six or seven--he was picked up as a stray before I adopted him, so really don't know his age. The vet thinks his back legs were broken at some point, but he's on meds and gets around well. Attachments:

I can't remember how old Hondobrode is, but when I was a kid there was this horror novel called Willard that was quite a thing for a while - they even made a movie of it, which I haven't seen. It was all about rats. The Michael Jackson hit, Ben, was from the sequel. I'm 48 and haven't read that. Lord ! All the rest of them are repulsive to me, but rats are like they're from Hell. They can squeeze through insanely small places; they've got those extremely ugly tails and eyes and claws and that sound they make. They can swim and enough smaller caliber gunshots may not kill them. In the Dark Ages they spread diseases. I'm not crazy about snakes, but they kill rats, and I'm not afraid of them, so they're cool.

Animals are so sweet and innocent. They truly are like little angels; not that they can't be trouble or get into trouble, but they are pure love and innocence and depend on us for their everything.
