According to several reports, including one by Gail Simone, legendary comic creator Trina Robbins has passed. She was 85. from Gail Simone's FB: (Mrs. MRP w/Trina Robbins c. 2014 We had the honor and privilege of meeting Trina at Gem City Comic Con in 2014 and she was nothing but completely supportive of my wife's creative endeavors, which made quite an impression and meant a lot to Mrs. MRP. So with great sadness, we raise a toast to Trina today, to honor her memory and to honor her legacy. -M

I met Trina only a couple of times, in the late 90s at Friends of Lulu luncheons. She was so open and friendly to all that met her. A true pioneer in every way in comics; from the underground scene to the iconic, such as co-creating the Vampirella costume. Her writings on women in comics (The Great Women Superheros & A Century of Women Cartoonists) are fantastic texts and should in everyone's libraries.
A brilliant creator joins the heavenly bullpen. She will be dearly missed.

Only met her through her work. A true legend whose like we may not see again.

A great loss for comics, comix, and comics history. I enjoyed my few encounters with her both online and in person and she once emailed me to praise a letter I'd written to Comic Book Artist. I didn't know her but I felt like I did through her cartoons and other writing. She will be missed.
Cei-U! Bon voyage, Trina! Goddess bless!

Vital, game-changing talent in the history of comics (of just about every sub-genre) who will be missed as she heads away from the physical world. Unfortunately, we are in the era of many legends who always seemed to be here passing on, if recent years are anything to consider.

I'm not overly familiar with Trina Robbins' work, but obviously know of her impact on comics. Shame to hear of her passing.
TIL that she was a friend of several rock bands from the '60s L.A./Laurel Canyon scene, including The Byrds and The Doors. Joni Mitchell even mentions her in her 1970 song "Ladies of the Canyon" (in the first and fourth verses)...
Ladies of the Canyon
Trina wears her wampum beads She fills her drawing book with line Sewing lace on widows' weeds And filigree on leaf and vine Vine and leaf are filigree And her coat's a secondhand one Trimmed with antique luxury She is a lady of the canyon
Annie sits you down to eat She always makes you welcome in Cats and babies 'round her feet And all are fat and none are thin None are thin and all are fat She may bake some brownies today Saying, you are welcome back She is another canyon lady
Estrella, circus girl Comes wrapped in songs and gypsy shawls Songs like tiny hammers hurled At beveled mirrors in empty halls Empty halls and beveled mirrors Sailing seas and climbing banyans Come out for a visit here To be a lady of the canyon
Trina takes her paints and her threads And she weaves a pattern all her own Annie bakes her cakes and her breads And she gathers flowers for her home For her home she gathers flowers And Estrella, dear companion Colors up the sunshine hours Pouring music down the canyon Coloring the sunshine hours They are the ladies of the canyon
