Getting this up now as I likely won't be around again until Sunday... Show us a comic you own...one you think is important, valuable, appealing or that you genuinely just love (bonus points if you can show us your actual copy of the book). For this week, I am going with my copy of 1st Issue Special #8, signed by Mike Grell. I love the genre, I love the book, and I treasure the experience of meeting and chatting with Mike Grell at Gem City Comic Con it represents. -M

Think for this week I'll post my very well worn copy of DC Special #15 Had it for years, but only really read it recently because I found the artstyle a little bit off-putting and sloppy (got it when I was a teen, I had the same reaction to Kirby, tastes change and broaden as you get older). When I was younger, I found a tpb of Kyle Baker's Plastic Man run and fell in love with it and jumped when I saw the DC Special. Around the right hand side it's a bit chewed on, but still readable (also somehow got a nasal strip stuck to the cover, getting it off was a bit of a pain). Almost immediately after I read it, I found a wonderful second-hand copy of Plastic Man Archives 1 at the flea market and dug into it with gusto.

Well, since our host posted a signed comic from the 1970s, I'll follow his cue and post a treasured signed comic that I have, Marvel Premiere #32: Now, this would be a treasured book even without the signature, because it's arguably the best single issue of Marvel Premiere ever (and I'm not saying that lightly, as I'm really fond of that series). It contains an excellent, stylish done-in-one space opera story written and drawn by Howard Chaykin. However, the fact that Chaykin also signed it when he was here in Zagreb over a decade ago, when I had the opportunity to sit at his table and shoot the breeze with him for almost a half-hour, just makes this comic all the more meaningful.

One of the currently better ones that I think many folks here use is Imgur (https://imgur.com/). Another one that I know of, but haven't yet used, is ImgBB (https://imgbb.com/), although that one has a limit on the amount of files you can upload, which Imgur doesn't seem to (either that or I haven't hit it yet, and I've using it for about 6-7 years now).

From back in the day when places like Brentano's would sell sell inappropriate stuff to obviously underage kids. Read 'em to death.

I had like 4-5 books signed by him and commissioned a Hawkgirl sketch form him. -M

I had posted this in the Purchases thread a few months ago, a gift for Mr. Rags. It's the fully collected works of Playboy's Little Annie Fanny, limited to 500 sets and signed by the founder of Playboy, Hugh Hefner.

This week I pulled out my Iron Man #150.
This is the very first time that Dr. Doom fights Iron man alone. I believe they crossed swords in various Avengers books, but I thought it to be a no brainer to have them square off. The book was by the great Michelinie, Romita Jr, Layton team in their great run in the 80's.

Something comic related. I love it when comic artists create art outside of the medium. Here's two from Mike Allred and Dave Gibbons. Allred's art for his band, The Gear. The Gear was a project that went along with his Red Rocket 7 book; a companion of songs to go along with the story. And Dave Gibbons doing the artwork for the cover of Kula Shaker's debut album, K. I like bringing stuff like this to cons and seeing their faces that its not all comics we collect.
