Surprised that - as far as I can tell - this movie hasn't been discussed here yet; anyway, last night I *finally* got around to watching Spider-man: Across the Spider-verse (2023) last night...
And I mostly enjoyed it quite a bit; like it's predecessor, Into the Spider-verse, it has a really engaging story, great voice-acting and above all amazing animation. My main criticisms this time around would be that at times the action is a little too busy and fast-paced, i.e., it's difficult to catch all of the things visually occurring on screen. My main gripe, though, is that it ends on a cliffhanger, which I found a bit annoying. The first one, while leaving open the possibility for sequels, tells a complete and satisfying story. This one ends mid-story, with even a "to be continued" caption box in the last scene.
Still, though, this is a fun movie and I hope we don't have to wait too long for the third installment (from what I'm seeing online, it looks like next year is probably the earliest it can be expected).

It's crazy that we don't already have a thread for this. I swear I participated in a discussion about this film after seeing it, but I can't find one!

It's crazy that we don't already have a thread for this. I swear I participated in a discussion about this film after seeing it, but I can't find one! Yeah, I was also under the impression that it had been discussed somewhere on this forum before, but couldn't find anything in this section or in any of the individual threads dedicated to movies. Also a bit surprising that it's still not attracting any more comments/discussion. It's certainly the superhero film I liked most of those I've recently watched (although I should add that I've mostly only watched DC movies in the past few years that show up on HBO. The last MCU film I've watched is No Way Home).

The art on both of these was really stunning, it really felt like a comic book movie in a way that other films despite being entertaining didn't really capture. I can't wait for the third.

I watched this a while back with my daughters. Enjoyed it for the most part, although my two biggest complaints were that is was really long and it ended without resolution. I had no idea it was nothing more than a bridge movie, which my girls did, so I wasn’t happy realizing I then have to invest even more time into the series just to see how it ends.

The cliffhanger ending would have been better if the movie was clearly marketed as part 1 of 2. As the movie kept approaching, and then exceeding, an average runtime, my enjoyment was diminished. It was clear that there was way too much to wrap up at the end, so I resigned myself to a badly fumbled ending.
