This is a picture of MDG at the very first Zoom meeting way back in 1-3-2021. I believe this was the first interaction putting a face to the posts. Thanks to Jesse for snapping the screen shot. He was ever present in our geek assembly. I can't lie, I'm kind of reeling over this.

Just saw this over on Facebook. Really sad news. MDG was always such a welcome presence in the forum and his posts were always really fun to read. He was clearly very knowledgeable on a whole range of subjects. I got to interact with him a couple of times via the Classic Comics Forum Zoom meetings and my impression was of a very warm guy. I will really miss having him around the place.

This is really terrible news and a big loss for everyone in our community.
For those who maybe never had the chance to talk to Marty, I wanted to post this video I did with him a few years ago where we discussed his journey as a comic fan and collector. It's a conversation that I treasure. He was really nice and super knowledgeable -- and knowledgeable about corners of the comic world off the beaten path.
He's really going to be missed.

I'm so saddened to hear the news. Marty was very personable during the times I got to interact with him in the Zoom chats.

Not the way I wanted to wake up this morning. Another one of the good ones gone way too soon.

Echoing everything everyone has already said. Marty was an invaluable member of our little community. I will miss his contributions and his sense of humor and, most of all, him.

I'm so glad I got to be acquainted with Marty here in the forum and on the Zoom meetings and on Facebook. Such a cool, laid-back guy, such a rich bank of comics knowledge, and I never even got to hear him talk about his stint as a co-writer of X-O MANOWAR or G'Nort in GLC Quarterly...
Ascend to the Hall of Heroes, Marty. You will be missed greatly on this Earthly plane.

Hi Friends, greetings from an equally devastated parallel universe.
Marty is a pretty special guy. So It is no surprise to me that he is beloved here in your community as he is in mine.
I worked with/near Marty at RIT for what seems like forever. And while we did not connect over comics he was an unwavering supporter of my artistic talents, dreams and endeavors… and always had killer groove or tune to share.
His office was always adorned with some of the best graphic arts. It was a good day when I had to swing by his office for … well… anything.
His love for and work with Fairport Public Arts here in our shared home town of Fairport NY led to me being in the exact right place at the exact right time. Without his gentle but persistent encouragement to enter a painting event my world would never have begun to play out as it has and is. I think back to that day last fall often. Our friend Marty set in motion a string of events that my wildest daydreams did not dare flirt with.
His contribution to our local art community will continue to extend far beyond the visible horizon.
It’s a sad day. But we’re all a bit better for being able to call him a Friend. May his memory bring you some smiles soon. -Scott

I'm not surprised that he had many friends we didn't know about.
