Marty’s children just announced that he has passed from the cancer he was battling. This is a tremendous loss for his family and for this community.
Marty’s knowledge of underground comics was a huge addition to CCF. And getting to interact with him during the Zoom meetings was always a joy.
Safe travels, Marty. I’ll miss you.

He was a truly unique and amazing guy. Awe-inspiring in the breadth of his knowledge, his kindness and his friendliness.
He will be sorely missed, and right now the joy of having known him doesn't compensate for that dreadful feeling of loss. I know from experience that it will not always be like that, but today this is a cruel blow.
Rest in peace, Marty. May your memory bring smiles forever.

Very sad to hear. Looking at the posts from the family, we shared a lot of interests, beyond just comics, including surf guitar music.
I dabbled in some of the undergrounds, in more recent years; but he really knew his stuff.

Such terrible news. Marty was a truly a wonderful person. Strangly we never met but we but had a lot in common.
We lost a CCF family member today. Keep him in your hearts.

So saddened by this news. Marty (MDG) will be missed but his legacy here will endure. My condolences go out to all his family and friends, and a big hug (or hand on the shoulder for those who don't like hugs) to all here who mourn his loss and shared in all he brought to this community. I saw the note from his son this morning that Marty had had a turn for the worse yesterday, but was offline as we had our game group over this afternoon. The first thing I saw when I checked my phone was the message that Marty had passed and it was like a gut punch. I'll miss all Marty brought to our little community, but especially some of the talks we had about original art and the original art market via PM. He was always so knowledgeable and gracious with his time and knowledge. Safe travels into the last great unknown my good sir.
