I was just looking through some TPB's I haven't gotten around to sorting out and one of them caught my eye. It was the second volume of Archie Comics' Jinx, which is a teenage update and modernization of the kid strip Lil' Jinx that used to run back in the day. It's pretty good. What caught my eye, though, is that the whole series is inked by Terry Austin! Austin is hardly the first major creator who used to work at the Big Two who has taken refuge at Archie. As many of you know from the other posts we've made on the subject, Norm Breyfogle drew the first several issues of Life with Archie. That series is actually also written by Paul Kupperberg. And he's not alone - Archie #648, which was a Thor parody, was written by long time Thor scribe Tom DeFalco (and lettered by John Workman, who famously did the lettering for Walt Simonson's legendary Thor run!). DeFalco also wrote the Man From R.I.V.E.R.D.A.L.E. arc in Archie #610-613, as well as several other Archie arcs in recent years. All this got me thinking: What happened to all the other mainstays of Marvel and DC who no longer work for the company? I know some have moved on to other industries like animation, but I wonder how many of our favorite creators who seem to have vanished are actually still working in comics, just on titles we don't know about? So, where are they now?

No mention of Norm Breyfogle?
I know Don McGregor just put out a new Sabre comic.
And I believe I heard Gerry Conway is working on something new and unexpected for him, but I can't recall what.

No mention of Norm Breyfogle? I did mention him, I just didn't post an image of it.

I haven't seen Fabian Nicenza in credits for quite a long time.

If memory serves, DeFalco originally came to Marvel from Archie.

I haven't seen Fabian Nicenza in credits for quite a long time. Seems like he's going fill-in work at the moment? GCD has him doing one arc on Batwing last year and one arc on Legion Lost, with a longer arc on Teen Titans before that. But just basically one arc on each, nothing ongoing.

I read a couple of both Legion Lost and Titans.. I didn't notice his name... I'll have to check to see if I missed it (not that either was very good).

I think there was a third novel in the series a year or two ago.
Englehart has always been a favorite of mine, and I have always watched his comics career with great interest. It's clear to me that he isn't welcome anymore at any publisher he would be interested in writing for. Sad to say.

Yeah, it seems crazy, but with the Nu52 he was working on Titans for sure I remember.

Tom DeFalco at DC? that's kinda crazy! He wrote Lois Lane in the 70s and create the awesome Human Cannonball.

Neat to see Rick Burchett in that L'il Jinx credit box as well. Last thing of his I remember is a shortish run on Dan Slott's She-Hulk way back when, IIRC, succeeding Juan Bobillo (whom I loved on the strip, as it happens).

I wish Graham Nolan would do more comics instead of doing The Phantom comic strip. Are there any comic strips, let alone a comics section in newspapers?
