My pick is probably one of the first comics that I ever owned, Adventures In The DC Universe #7 Always loved this issue and very happy that it survived years in the garage in our old house basically untouched for twenty some odd years. For those that don't know, AITD basically was an attempt to broaden the scope of the Batman and Superman TAS series shows with streamlined versions of the characters for impressionable children (such as myself). I'm not sure how far off this was from the extremely popular Justice League cartoons, but it AITD was a nice series that's often overlooked. It was also drawn and written by Steve Vance of Bongo Comics fame (Radioactive Man specifically) I just read/reread the entire run of that series earlier this year and enjoyed it immensely. I rea da few as they were released and some as I picked them up over the years, but I finally completed the run and read the whole thing. Great fun. It predates the JL cartoons and uses the Morrison era JLA as its League line up (which is what the League was when these were coming out) so different than the actual animated League shows and books that came later. -M

I got to see and chat with Justin Wasson, who did the Green Arrow cover I posted, this afternoon at the Jim & Dan Comic & Toy Show. I mentioned I had posted the cover and told him what Top Shelf Friday was about, and he said he was going to try to look for the forum and thread when he had the chance.

MRPs_Missives, as promised. Quest Compound, After Hours. My friend, Rafael Navarro, who's a Xeric grant winner and two time Emmy winner in animation, drew this fantastic cover. I told him "Quest Compound, After Hours" and he laughed and knew exactly what I was thinking. After a day of saving the world, its cocktail time for the men. Even down the 60s blue wash type feel. Rafael's done lots of covers for me and they're all great. I'll post another one of his next week.
