Well folks, whoever said a decade old online forum community in the age of Facebook groups can't keep doing the impossible?
Yesterday, we broke our all-time record for most users ever online at one time. That combined with a ton of energetic and awesome new faces around here serve as a constant reminder that we're never old if we keep the conversation thriving. Thanks, everyone, for continuing to make this my favorite place on the world wide web. Raise a glass!

That's great! I love we have a bunch of new folks... I feel like alot of other places to discuss comics online have fallen by the wayside, but we're still going strong!

I have seen comments elsewhere that forums are redundant in the age of social media. I don’t believe that at all.
Facebook groups, for instance, are just a steady stream of posts, one after the other. Post an interesting topic? Well, within hours it’ll be at the bottom of the page, so to speak.
I’ve also found a lack of conversation in groups. I posted about UK DC annuals here recently - and had some great replies. I wrote a similar post on a FB group I am on, and *all* I got were likes. It’s as if on social media, hitting the “like” button means job done. While there are “like” buttons here, people WANT to add something other than just a convenient emoji.
Social media group posts and X threads are ephemeral. Here today, gone tomorrow. Lots of likes, little conversation. Forums are completely the opposite, I feel.

I've been constantly amazed at the engagement here since I joined in 2020. Definitely my fave place to spend time online!

I think one benefit of forums is when they have a no selling rule. On some social media groups over time, it did feel like 90% of users were joining just to sell stuff. You’d log in and post after post was someone using the site as eBay. Which, of course inevitably led to posts about someone who had had a dispute with a buyer or seller.

Super happy that I stumbled across this place! It's what I've been looking for out of comics discussions for awhile.
There's no sense of worry here. If you talk about a book you like that isn't liked by others, no one will act high and mighty and look down on you.
Open and positive communities like this live forever!

Very happy to see this place more lively. To be perfectly honest, I was kind of worried as there seemed to be less and less of us as the days went on. Forums are also kind of dying out in favor of Reddit and the like, so it's nice to see this place be kind of a safe haven for that
