I was going through eBay looking at comics I have in less than NM condition and thought which issues would I want in NM condition and my 3 would be X-men 126-128. My all time favorite X-men storyline. What is everyone else’s 3 issues you’d love to upgrade to NM?

Probably three of my all time favorite covers, so they present well for display as wall art. Spirt #22 (Quality) the source of my interest in red dress covers Punch Comics #12 just an all time great cover design (I've read the facsimile edition though and the stories are a bit of a slog) Eerie #23 One of my favorite Frazetta covers and touches on my love of the ancient Egyptian art aesthetic. -M

As long as the colours aren't faded or the covers or pages torn or badly creased, I think I might prefer a copy that I've read a few times and that looks like it rather than one that looks too perfect, as if it's been kept under glass in a museum or something.

I'd rather like Daredevil 168 in NM, but haven't pulled the trigger for cost reasons. I'm equally happy with VFN on Bronze Age books, and Fine on Silver Age. Readable pages that haven't been badly squashed together is more important to me than overall high grades.

Not sure how I'd explain that expenditure to my significant other, though 👀😅

I geek out over finding any Golden Age book in NM for a low price. It's just such a rarity. Normally, I don't give condition all that much consideration, but prestine 1930s and 1940s stuff just looks and feels different: the paper, the ink, the colors. Just a beautiful thing.

Like other early books in this first Silver Surfer series, the mid-grade has absolutely exploded in the past 15 years. VG/FN 5.0 increased from $100 in 2002 to $400 in 2019, with VG 4.0 moving from $50 in 2005 to its current value of $300. That's growth of 400%-600%!" Ugh, I remember I could have bought a 7.5 copy for £100 about 20 years ago.

Other than the icon cover I never found that issue or any other issue of SS, other then issue 1, worth all the hype.

I assume just the amazing cover- one of the best ever. Back in the day in the Overstreet guide (maybe still today) SS #4 was always listed as having "low distribution", which I guess meant the demand was always greater than the supply and hence the higher price. I've seen some pushback on the low distribution designation around here before and that the higher price isn't really justified

They would only release one copy at a time upstairs into the shop though because it had that reputation of being particularly scarce and they could charge a lot of money for it. The fact that they had loads of copies in storage obviously speaking the fact that the comic was not particularly rare.

Can't breathe fire and brimstone for that, I'd employ the same tactic by regulating one copy at a time. Having the rest in storage and knowing time is your friend makes hoarding work for you with that particular book.

I actually don't collect NM in general for back issues as I just like reading copies and don't want to pay the premium for higher grades. I'm kind of a VG-F-VF rangish buyer usually.
But since it's fun to to play the game still, and there are some more modern books that I may just end up getting in NM because the supply is a lot higher in that grade, I'll go with these 3 that I would love to have:
1) Amazing Spider-Man #300 2) The Tick Special Edition #1 3) Batman Adventures #12
