I used to dread the holidays, and my birthdays, until my dad and his dad were out of the picture. Now I love them. There's still a few dbag relatives on my moms side, but nothing I can't handle, nothing that makes me want to miss out on time with Grandpa and my cousins.

There's still a few dbag relatives on my moms side, but nothing I can't handle, nothing that makes me want to miss out on time with Grandpa and my cousins. I have some dbag family members as well. I'll just remain on the other side of the room from them. And some of them will be a no-show today. I get to see my baby niece and my nephews today, and that is about the best thing ever that will happen today.

Thanksgiving took on a new relevance in my life nine years ago, as my wife was very pregnant with our first daughter and wound up having her four days later. Since then, we get together with my family (my wife's parents have both since passed, and her brothers are either live far away or are just not close to her in that family sort of way) and celebrate my daughter's birthday, as the day has been officially dubbed "Birthgiving" in our household.

Just want to also give thanks to bronzeagebrian for the really nice Thanksgiving image he put on the front page today, as well as the work he does on the front page nearly every day. I could have done without the personal shout-out to me, though And thanks to all of you for making this place a home I'm always wanting to get back to each day Happy Thanksgiving.

Same to you & yours, & to everyone else & theirs.
I have no family to speak of, & certainly not here in Montgomery, but a friend from a large local FB group (5,000+ & steadily growing) where I've unaccountably become a Big Wheel by just being myself (minus, I suppose, the arcane Brother Power references ... though I have invoked Bizarro) has invited me to his family's. I'll be heading out in an hour or so.
