And coldwater, please note the Ross Andru art. He was the original artist (inked by Mike Esposito) on Metal Men and he drew it for quite a while in the 1960s. Have I already asked you if this series is collected? I know we have spoken about Metal Men before. I love what I have seen of Ross Andru's art on Spider-Man. His MJ is beautiful.

You are correct! Everett did a lot of art on TTA stories, if I remember correctly, but I *think* Stan wrote most of the stories? I could be wrong. I would have to get my books out. I'm quite jealous of your latest purchase, Hoosier X! Good stuff! Well, the TTA #94 is great! I have not read the other. I haven't read a lot of the later Tales to Astonish*, but even the volume that Cooper bought has some Everett art at the end. It's still Stan's Sub-Mariner, but Bill's, though. (And a lot of Gene Colan, who's one of my favorite artists but a huge mis-match here.) * Although if I buy Sub-Mariner vol. 2 I'd own all of Tales to Astonish in color reprints. That would be kinda cool. Yes, Everett does quite a bit of art on TTA. That I remember because I get excited whenever I get to read Sub-Mariner when he's drawn by his creator. And Everett had a very distinct way of drawing Namor. It's the head shape, the eyes (eyelashes and obviously the eyebrows), and the mouth. I'm not an art expert at all, so I cannot really describe it. I can just usually pick out Everett art when I see it. It's also the facial expressions he draws. And the way he drew golden age Atlanteans. ^^^The way he draws the eyes and his facial expression, his Namor often looks like he gives zero f*#ks. And it makes me laugh. Or he looks bored. And in the golden age, the mouth/facial expression is the same, but it is more obvious even. And his Namor looks like he's talking from the side of his mouth (like you see in cartoons when the character is trying to be quiet).

Sorry you had to repeat it.

Oh god, that is so meeeeaaannnnn. Poor robot lady with a heart. Doc Magnus is a GRADE-A JERK! You're too good for him, Platinum! Every once in a while, Doc Magnus will have a date with a human lady and Platinum will get jealous and do something wildly inappropriate.

The appeal of Metal Men is lost on me. See: Metamorpho.

I bought an issue of the Silver Age Metamorpho series a few years ago and I didn't like it at all. Very bland. Maybe it was just a bad issue. But The Metal Men is a hilarious comic book! It's just non-stop insanity for 24 pages every issue. And just when you think it can't get any stupider, you read the next issue.

Surprising amount of snark in there. It's a bit like a mix between Golden Girls and a chemistry text book.

I mean...Golden Girls having the carry the entire entertainment of a comic book? Two seconds of that and I'd be done. And I love The Golden Girls.

I wonder if Java ever met Gnarrk of the Teen Titans?

A friend of mine had OMAC #1 and I only read it that one time almost forty years ago.
I have never forgotten it.

Amazon says there are two Archive volumes, and two SHOWCASE volumes... so the two Archives are far from the whole thing. The original run (before it was brought back a couple times) was 41 issues... so that sounds like about 2 Showcase volumes... assuming a couple outside appearances.
