Got my copy of Graphic Ink: The DC Comics Art of Darwyn Cooke. Holy Mackerel is this a beautiful book. I haven't delved too far into it, but it has pretty much all of Cooke's DC work that hasn't been previously collected along with a ton of covers and other art. Just a beautiful presentation and definitely recommended.

Some impromptu pick ups today, but it seemed fitting since this is apparently the summer of "heroes vs heroes."

I picked these three up on eBay for 8.63 and was disappointed at the shape. The seller said good but I find them to be more fair to poor. Oh well, I got zonked for the first time in a while.

That doesn't look quite good to me, though maybe he didn't understand comic book grading. Personally, I'm mostly just interested in reading copies. As long as everything is legible, and there are no missing pages, I'm happy. It saves me money, too.

Yes, me too. All the pages are there but the covers are attached by a thread. In all, 8.63 for 3 silver age Kirby books is acceptable.

OK, here it is: I won a recent auction at Heritage. (And yes, I sold the right kidney to pay for it...) I brought it to the school I work at to show it to a fellow comic geek that I work with. One of my students guessed that I paid $50 for it. Ha! I have been working a complete run of Amazing Spider-Man for almost 11 years, and I am just down to 1 issue -- #1. I dunno what else to say -- it presents better than its grade, but it's definitely a 6.0. -- Tom CONGRATS! And good luck with finding #1

Tom, I will guess you paid around $1800? You can just say over or under lol I don't mind telling you, it's public knowledge really. I paid $1436 with Heritage's fees figured in. And for those of you keeping score at home -- I still owe $486. :-) -- Tom

Got a batch of old Batman off a dealer on Ebay, got all seven for $48 and $4 bucks shipping for the lot. He had most of them graded VG with one VG/G and another G. Pleasantly surprised by the shape now in hand, all are solid copies.
Brave and the Bold # 68, 69, 71 & 76 Detective # 354 & 358 Batman # 188
I'm down to needing 26 issues to have Batman and 19 issues of Detective back to the "New Look" start. I need 8 more issues to have Brave and the Bold back to when Batman team ups became the regular feature.
