In the same little village (Yellow Springs hometown of Dave Chappelle) that my lsc is in is a great little used bookstore that specializes in sci-fi, and has a great little comic section. I poked my head in today to find they were running a November sale-25% off all back issues and all $1 books were 25 cents. Needless to say, I picked up a few things... from the quarter bins... from Marvel/EpicMan from Atlantis #6, 7 Human Fly #3, 4 Marvel Premiere 42 (Tigra) Marvel Classics Comics 21 (Verne's Master of the World w/ great Gil Kane & Bob Wiacek cover), 23 (Collins' Moonstone) Shogun Warriors 19 &20 (guest starring the FF) Midnight Sons Unlimited #2 Swords of the Swashbucklers #6, 8, 10 from DC/Vertigo1st Issue Special 11 (Code Name Assassin) Elvira's House of Mystery #11 (with a Dave Stevens Elvira cover) Terminal City #2 (Michael Lark art) Indies, 'Zines & Small PressAge of Reptiles #3 Age o Reptiles: The Hunt #2 Mister X (1984 series) #1 American Flagg #31 Somerset Holmes #3, 6 William Messner-Loeb's Journey #14, 18, 24, 26 Sun Runners #5 (Pat Broderick cover & art) Whisper Special #1 Targitt #3 (Atlas/Seaboard) Comics Interview #10, 33 Eclipse Monthly #1, 9 The 1976 Heroes World catalog of Super-Hero games, books, toys & puzzles Berni Wrightson, Masterof the Macabre #1 (yes they misspell his name in the title) Ditko's World #3 Detectives Inc. #1, 3 (Don McGregor & Gene Colan) and from the 25% off back issue sI picked up .. Jonny Quest #9, 29, 31 and Special 2 which completes the Comico Jonny Quest run for me and Savage Sword of Conan #66 & 209 (leaving me needing only 10 issues to complete the SSoC run) -M PS That Heroes World Catalog...look at all the wonderful toys!

I was going to say, that Heroes World catalog is probably the single coolest thing there, though I like a lot of what you picked up.

I received this collection this summer, so it's not exactly new, but I was just able to start digging into it recently.

The family held a belated birthday party for Old Phil today and I was shocked when my wife, daughters, and brother presented me with this gem: Savage Tales #1 in loin-cloth-dampening 9.6! Apart from a cameo or two, I think this completes my collection of 70s Man-Thing appearances.

That's the last issue of Savage Tales I need to complete the run, and I've been searching for an affordable low to mid-grade copy for a while now. I have all the stories in it reprinted in other formats, so I am not in a huge rush, but I am envious of that issue. Great score man, your family has great taste in gifts! -M

I went to a show in Toms River NJ on sunday that I've never attended. It was about 90 minutes away and It would have been a disappointment if not for one dealer that had about 40 boxes of 50 cent books ( mostly independents). He made me a deal that If I picked 100 books, They would be 40 cents each. So I did. A lot of runs that I have neglected and some new old stuff that I wanted to read for some time.

I'm just starting to read Man-Thing for the first time, starting with his first appearance, thanks mostly to Marvel Unlimited. Part of the reason is that in moving to Florida, I've developed an interest in this rare Florida based character, but in addition, I'm a big Bronze Age and and he's one of the few plentiful sources of untapped Bronze Age goodness out there for me.

Looking forward to these arriving soon. A slightly awkward purchace as I hadn't noticed the seller didn't accept Paypal and I had to scrabble around working out how to get a few Euros across the channel without it costing more in fees than the purchase price. Apparently accepting Paypal is not required on eBay.Fr as it is in the UK. That'll learn me.

One of the LCS in our area started their Black Friday sales event this past Friday, marking down about a dozen longboxes of Gold, Silver, & Bronze Age books up to 60% off, reducing prices on a few hundred trades, adding another 6K books to their dollar bins and offering 20% off everything else in the store. I had the day off, and there was a vintage toy store that had just moved in next to the lcs,so decided to take a ride down and picked up some goodies. From the marked down Gold, Silver, Bronze box I picked up these 4 books... 3 of which were $3, the Demon issue a couple bucks more but was 1 of 2 I needed to compete the run. They also had a fair number of vintage paperbacks there, and I snagged these 3, 2 Flash Gordon strip collections and an REH paperback I didn't have... Among the marked down trades I got the following... The oversized artist edition Pen & Ink volume of George Perez's Sirens... another Terry & the Pirates volume and a copy of Joe Kubert's Yossel (which I read from the library for Will Eisner Read a Graphic Novel week either this year or last) They had a huge number of the Creepy and Eerie archive editions at 60% off cover and I was sorely tempted, but didn't jump on. Instead, I went to work digging through the $1 boxes and picked up these books... the 4 part Warriors Three story by Charles Vess in Marvel Fanfare... all 6 issues in the baby variant covers of The Six Million Dollar Man Season 6 (not a classic comic but a classic property) some Dark Horse Conan issues... 2 of the Frazetta cover series and the issues I needed to complete the Road of Kings series (which Roy Thomas wrote) some Marvel Epic series... which completes Timespirits for me and leaves only 2 issues of Swords of the Swashbucklers to get a pair of Dynamic Forces Tellos special issues and a handful of Gold Key and Charlton issues... a handful of DC books... including a couple of giant GI Combat issues with Kubert covers a handful of Moorcock books... and a couple of random issues... a reproduction of the Will Eisner studio produced Baseball Comics, a Kolchak story featuring art by Trevor Von Eeden, and a lovely Marvel toy tie in comic. Since I wasn't going to make the show in a couple of weeks because of a family commitment, I splurged a little today instead. -M

I think I got it for Alpha Flight. At least I think it is the same thing. I will have to have a look again.
