Picked up Straczynski's run on Spider-Man #30-39, including the black cover which seems to always be priced high, for $30 for the set. Have never read any of this arc so I will see how it goes. I love this run. JMS and John Romita Jr. really hit it out of the park issue after issue. The best arc I think would be the first one which is Coming Home. Unfortunately once Romita Jr. leaves the book takes a slight downturn in quality. Still JMS's entire run is worth reading. Issue #38, The Conversation is one of my favorite Sidey issues of all time and one of my favorite comics ever.

I loved Straczynski's run on ASM...it's one of my all-time favourite runs of the entire series, up there with other post-Silver Age classic runs like Roger Stern's. You did well with that price if it included the 9/11 issue. Actually, that 9/11 issue was rubbish and really winds me up, but you can't argue with the sentiment of it. That particular issue aside though, all of Straczynski's run, up until the One More Day clusterf**k, is well worth your time reading -- including the controversial Sins Past story line (don't tell coke & comics I said that though ;) ) Although, if you've only got up to issue #39 (#480), you won't come anywhere near to Sins Past. Having been tagged, I will counter lightly. I think the issues you picked up are generally awesome. Those first 6 issues are one of the best Spider-Man stories ever. JMS had a couple other good arcs after that first one. A story about a villain named Digger, for example. But I might just tell you to stop there. He put his all into that first arc and didn't have much left. But you definitely don't want to continue past when JR Jr. leaves to be replaced by that terrible artist.

I'm seeing this first Punisher set from 1985 going for as high as $150 so my dealer acquired one below $40 in high grade and I nipped it as an extra. Glad to see Punisher getting some love in 2016, his new series started this year and #1 sold over 100,000 copies! I can't remember seeing that happen for previous volumes.

Oh man that mini series took me forever to complete. The later issues were fine, they found there way to me. That first issue though, people always wanted $30-50 for it. I got it for $20 and spent around $30 total on the set. It is a solid story IMO and the artwork is great, some of the best early Punisher stuff you can find.

That Punisher mini was a nice return to the original intent of the character, after the baffling "mercy bullet" period that ran through the later ASM and Captain America appearances IIRC. One stand-out of that time of course was the two-parter in Miller's Daredevil. Had Marvel stuck to their guns (heh ) and insisted on a bloodless Punisher, it's possible we wouldn't be talking about him today.

Not a huge Punisher fan but I picked up mid-grade copies of 4 of the 5 issues of this mini out of dollar bins at cons in the last year and a half. I have to double check, it is either #3 or #4 that I'm missing. There were multiple copies of the issues I got in those bins. High grade versions were up on the "walls" (i.e. their rack of books at the backs of the booths) at premium prices, but they couldn't move mid to low grade copies of it so had dumped them in the bargain bins. -M

Been nostalgic for FF and trying to rebuild a run that I used to own. Not listing everything I just got from eBay, but the main ones are FF#175-200, Marvel-Two-In One #50 & all the other Byrne & Perez related issues, FF Chronicles & a lot of Byrne related FF crossovers.

Even though I've read precious little of that era of FF, I really love the logo the book had back then. That '70s futuristic font and the four heads in the circles.

I have that book also with a double cover. I think it's the only one that I have with 2 covers.
