Bought from Amazon for my Kindle this morning:Lee Falk's The Phantom issues 1 -8 from Gold Key for $3.03, Phantom issues 9-17 from Gold Key for $3.03, Phantom issues 18-28 from King Features for $2.99 and Phantom issues 30-40 from Charlton for $3.03. Some nice old school carry around easy access fun reading that would be waaay to expensive purchasing in bound format. I hear the monkeys and jungle calling to me now in anticipation of some adventures to come....

My brother and I are collaborating on acquiring the first ten issues of Amazing Spider-Man. With his recent purchase of #3 in 7.0, we are halfway there! I've asked him to send me a scan. I have #1 and #5; he has #2, #3, and #6. It now falls to me to find a decent #4. When that happens, I'll post it here. ETA: Here is ASM #3

The way it mixes Peter Parker's super-hero life, his home life, his school life and his work life is ... AMAZING! This would become standard operating procedure pretty quickly, but whenever I read #4, I am stunned at how entertaining and seamless it is, as if they had already been doing it for years.

After many years, I've finally completed the very first volume of Gen 13 with this purchase. This makes the 5 issue mini series complete.

ASM #4 is great, but what about #5, man! #5's where it's at. Dr. Doom, Flash Thompson dressing up as Spidey and getting captured by Doom, loads of teenage high school angst, a Doombot, a kick ass battle between Spidey & Doom, and a last minute appearance by the Fantastic Four. ASM #5 is definitely my personal fave out of the first 10 issues.

When I got my #4, I had an opportunity to get a #3 for $250.00. Its only flaw was a small tape pull smack in the centre of the comic. Being a hard ass where condition is concerned, I passed it up, but sometimes wonder if I made a mistake.

Being a hard ass where condition is concerned, I passed it up, but sometimes wonder if I made a mistake. One of the ways that you and I differ is with regard to impulse control. You have it. FWIW, I don't think you made a mistake. You set a very high bar and adherence to that standard is what distinguishes your style of collecting. I imagine it contributes in no small way to your enjoyment of the hobby. Vive la différence! Remind me, what grade is your #4?

But I eventually came around, I now find that weird Ditko Doom to be oddly charming and, yes, I finally noticed that the story is simultaneously humorous and exciting. My favorite from the first 10 is #6.

I didn't buy it yet, but I bid on this: I have long been intrigued by that cover. What is even going on? I'll know Saturday.
