How many Avengers # 55s have there been? Just the two? (And West Coast, of course!)

I bid on a couple of copies of this over the last few weeks: Detective Comics #388! With the Joker on the Moon! I didn't win any of my bids. But remembering what a pain it was a few years ago when I was trying not to go over $20 for Detective Comics #332 (also with the Joker), I went ahead and just ordered Detective Comics #388 for $24. But when I was bidding, I put in some low bids on some other issues of Detective Comics that I need and I got Detective Comics #357 in the VG/F range (supposedly) for $7.50. I have long been intrigued by this cover. I think I read it in a Showcase volume but it was just too wondrously silly to comprehend after just one perusal. Now I can read it at my leisure and perhaps extract and then glean its mysteries! And I also ordered this from Midtown Comics along with some issues of the New 52 Birds of Prey: And that completes my collection of Marvel's Frankenstein series from the 1970s!

I was at a comic shop yesterday I don't normally visit, and they had some cool stuff, including this Matt Baker romance comic that I got for a total steal:

Earlier today I went to a thrift store out of town and found one old comic book from Whitman Comics.
Issue 25 of Doctor Spektor. I found it mixed in with bunch of old kids books. The lady at the checkout didnt know how much they were selling it at either 25 cents or 50 cents so I bought it for 25 cents. Lucky me.
Whats cool about it is that I grew up getting those 3 comics in one bag of Whitman Comics from grocery stores back in my day when I was a little kid in the early mid 1980s.
I know nothing about Doctor Spektor but issue 25 I was skimming through it involvs Dracula somehow

Great Joker issue with A nice Gil Kane Batgirl backup story to double your reading pleasure.

Was responding to Shax Top 100 Comic Sagas event where he posted First Comics' Elric.
I had responded that Heavy Metal put out Star*Reach's Greatest Hits in 1979 in a graphic album format with a great Elric story with art by Frank Brunner.
Years ago I'd sold my copy on eBay, which got snapped up pretty quickly.
I'd wrongly assumed I could easily find another copy.
Just a few nights ago, after posting, I looked and hallelujah found a copy available.
Can't wait to read it again.
Thank you Internet

i went to the comic shop yesterday. Mostly went there to buy and catch up on some of Rebirth Superman with Action Comics 2nd printings of issues 975 and 976 and issues 24-28 of Rebirth Superman.
But I did get to buy some old old back issues of these comics
Incredible Hulk. Some of the Grey Fix It Hulk, the Aids issue, and an odd issue involving Man Thing bunch of old Power Pack issues including the Holiday special old Jim Lee X Men and Uncanny X Men stuff such as death of Colossus for the Legacy Virus thing old 1987 John Byrne's Superman ongoing series. I bought issue 2 old issue of Amazing Spider Man which starts off the return of Peter's parents. Has Red Skull on the front cover old Daredevil issues including isseu 170something for just 4 bucks. It has Mr Hyde on the cover. Then two issues that lead to the Falling from Grace story arc.

Went to an antique market and picked up some random issues. One was a newer title that I know sells online for much more than I paid so that was nice. Most everything else was greatly overpriced but I added the following to the collection: Judge Dredd #16 Amazing Spiderman #403 Marvel Fanfare #12 The Judge Dredd book just looked cool and I have never read any. Definitely enjoyed it. The ASM ish is from a time period I don't love but as time goes on, the Scarlet Spider really appeals to me visually. And I had mentioned how I always come across Marvel Fanfare stuff but did not know which ones were worthy of a pick up...well this one was in great shape and for $2, why not.

^^ Judge Dredd #16 is a great issue...one of my favourites from those Eagle reprints. Fink Angel and Ratty are a great duo and there's loads of black humour in this story, which is always a key ingredient in Dredd. Nice colouring in it too.

For Fantastic Four, pretty much in in issues 100 to 260 range. I pretty much enjoy the really old stuff around issues 170something.
Daredevil is another thing. I just dont know what to buy and read for the old Daredevil stuff. Only one old Daredevil issue I bought recently has Mr Hyde on the front cover that along with the Falling from Grace stuff
