Any chance on seeing some of the interior pages of that Shazam book mrp? I'm assuming it is like the Batman and Superman books where it is mostly B&W but with several color pages? Here you go... table of contents... title page for the 40s section... opening color section... then into b&w... I love the stark contrast of the b&w on that left hand page, it works so well I would almost say color would ruin the effect on those pages, but I know it was originally in color. and one more b&w page, this time Junior... so yes, mostly b&w but an opening section in color. -M

Those Golden Agers are epic! Interested to know what the stories are like. For me, the covers alone are worth it!

I wasn't going to order any more Detective Comics for a month or so, but I was scrolling through eBay and making sure I wasn't missing anything, and I saw this for $6: Detective Comics #389, low grade (but not too low grade!). It's supposed to be here by Friday.

I went away to the West Country with the wife for a short break last week and happened upon a small comic shop in the town of Cirencester. Although their back issue stock was somewhat limited, I did actually manage to pick up a handful of reading comics for £2 each. I got Marvel Team-Up #134 and The Spectacular Spider-Man #171 (which were both on my "wants list"), and I took a chance on a couple of issues of John Byrne's The Thing, which both feature Ron Wilson on pencils, seemingly doing his best to draw like Byrne. I also picked up Star Wars Weekly #25 for entirely nostalgic and sentimental reasons because I used to have that issue back in 1978.

I love them. I was very happy to find the first one, with the mole. Byrne burns the eyes with his big green fat monster!
