You don't have a cell phone? What do you use , 2 tin cans and a string ? I don't need one. If I am at the house, we still have a landline, and at work I don't need it. My wife has one if we travel or if I am out with her, if there's an emergency, if not, no one needs to be able to reach me every moment, they can call and leave a message, and if I need to call them I use the landline or my wife's phone, but there's absolutely no reason I have o have a cell phone. I've had one in the past when I was required to for my job, but now there's no requirement to have one and I have no desire to have one and haven't in ten years. -M I've had a cell phone since 2004 and before that I had a beeper. You have a point in that 80% of what i use my phone for is internet nonsense. Although these days, I am on the road for 6 hours at a time and I need to be in contact with my office about 6 times a week.

From my friend Jesse, I picked up a half a short box of coverless Silver and Bronze Age books for $10 (i..e. I tookoff $10 from our agreed upon total for the books he was buying from me) as raw material for some of the decoupage and collage projects I am planning on working on this winter, but I noticed a fair pile of Sugar and Spike issues in the pile I may have to read before I chop them up. There was a lot of Gold Key humor and a fair number of Superman related issue sin the pile tho. I haven't looked at the pile closely but flipped through real quick to get a sense of what was there. If anything really interesting pops up from the box, I will add a note to this post.

I did a tally of all the back issue comics that I bought in shows and various comic shops in the year 2017 and these are the stats:
Comics bought- 474 Money spent- 359.41
This is not counting the new issues that I purchased this year or the books that I bought off the internet. For the most part, I stopped buying new comics in June. I don't know if I'll get to another show or comic shop to buy back issues for the rest of the year because this becomes my busy season.

^I'd say it is a great day if comics bought is greater than money spent!

I posted in the Classic exchange thread last week that I had some Gold Key Issue to trade, and since it didn't interest anyone, I traded some with a guy who works at an antique shop. He took Lone Ranger #1-28 in really great condition (the best condition on Gold Key comics I have seen I think) and I got these in return :
Tales to astonish 72,74,75,84,85,93,101 Fantastic Four 65 House of Mystery 64, 122 Captain America 122 Swamp Thing 12
I will enjoy these way more than the gold key, even if they are not in great condition. It was worth it just for the covers of Captain America #122 and Tales to Astonish #93

You have some nice Silver Age stuff there.

^ I love when you find a deal online Speaking of ebay, a few notable additions for me Cap #154 A nice array of books for around $0.80 each (some of while I will sell to cover costs) And finally, not comics but I feel compelled to post here because I am too lazy to zoom over to new toys thread. This was my Spiderman as a kid and the toys were and are the greatest. I have several now, including the Daily Bugle playset

I just ordered this: Detective Comics #280 dates back to that wonderful time when Batman was practically a science fiction hero, and he shared the book with the Martian Manhunter and Roy Raymond, TV Detective. (I'm really surprised that Roy Raymond hasn't come back as a sleazy reality-show host.) I've been looking at low-grade issues of Detective Comics from about #270 to #300, and this one was just about perfect. It's pretty beat-up, but the cover and centerfold are intact, no coupons cut out, no chunks torn out of the cover. But it's affordable ($15) because it has a name written on it ... and then crossed out. The description says there's also a name on the splash page. This is a defect that brings down the price of a book but doesn't bother me at all. It gives the book a sense of history and being part of some kid's life in the late 1950s. I think his name is Charles McNalty.
