Ok, the Jim & Dan's Comic and Toy Show haul, there's some classics, some modern, some art and some toys, and I am just going to lump it all together in this post/thread as some of the pics have them mixed together.
Ok, comics first...
some $1 books in a hodge pode...
Scooby, Usagi, Moebius, Eisner and Battle of the Planets...
from the same dealer (it was 6 for $5) three of the Dark Horse prestige mini issues...
from another dealer five of the post-Kirby Mr. Miracle issues out of a dollar bin...
from Bell, Book & Comics, one of the local shops, the Buck Rogers issues were $2 each and the Flash Gordon $5
more $2 Bronze from Pete Bell...
Pete also had 4 for $20 trades & hardcovers...
from Gem City Books, a group of 5 for $20 trades...
from Super Fly, my lcs, 75% off trades....
some $2 Bronze Age books from my friend Jesse's table...
$3 mags from Jesse...
from the vendor who had $2 trades (Jesse's partner in Gem City Comic Con and frequent travel companion when they do other shows...
local artist Adam Fields (who does the self-published Prowl comic and who just finished a set of Marvel sketch cards commissioned by Upper Deck for their next set of Marvel cards, I commissioned a Conan piece to go with the ones I got at Champion City for the Conan display I am putting together in the comic room...I am having them all done on magazine size backing boards, and most were just b&w pen & ink no color, but Adam was doing it in color...
but he wasn't satisfied with the way the colors came out on the finish of the backing board, so did a second one for me on paper at no extra cost...
just because I regularly support his book and give him constructive feedback on each issue.
from another local artist, whom I have gotten a handful of commssions from in the past, Justin Wasson, I picked up a trio of prints, 2 for me...
Cthulhu...
Space Ghost...
and Star Wars for Amy as part of her X-Mas gift
also as part of Amy's X-Mas gift, I picked her up a Funko Pop of one of her favorite Harry Potter characters, Dobby...
she keeps saying she wishes she had a house elf... (if only)
on the toy fornt, I picked up one thing from Mike at Mike's Vintage Toys one of the best local toy stores in the area...
the Silver Age mego-style Green Lantern
the guest of honor was Tony Moore, the artist who launched Walking Dead with Kirkman, Fear Agent with Rick Remender and had a long run on Deadpool. Tony is one of the few creators I encountered who charges to sign books ($5 for most stuff, $10 for Walking Dead stuff or $20 for Walking Dead 1-6 first prints). His commissions were a little out of my price range, but I did pick up a Krampus print from him (he has brought mostly Walking Dead and Deadpool stuff, neither of which I was interested in, and he hadn't brought any of the Fear Agent prints I had seen on his site that I was hoping he would have, but 'Tis the Season...
another guest was author DW Vogel, who I had a long talk with about freelancing, Origins and Gen Con conventions, and she gave me a couple of people o contact about doing some game-related writing for, and I picked up her book on writing...
as I am a sucker for behind the curtain books (or shows) on the creative process.
So that was the haul, last show of the year (but I may go to Bell, Book & Comic's annual warehouse sale in a couple weeks, a 3 day event, but on Sunday $1 books are down to 3/$1 or fill a short box for $30, long box for $60, so I may go check it out if I have a budget for it and the weather holds out. Adam Fields will be there doing sketches and commissions again too).
