Yes, I have scans of the centerfold game, which is one reason I didn't feel super compelled to spend 3-4x as much money on a copy that has it. It's a game called "On to Berlin" where you roll dice (or something?) to advance through Germany to Berlin to defeat Hitler. No doubt it was very popular with the kids in 1942!

That rings a bell and like you, I'm struggling to remember what you rolled to advance through Nazi Germany. It was either dice or one of these: , but my memory is not so good. Seriously though, congratulations on completing that series. Ordinarily, I'd be green with incandescent envy over a post like yours, but knowing how passionate and relentless you've been in pursuing it, I feel uplifted, joyful and filled with a sense that anything might be possible. And I wonder too about what delights your posts will offer going forward. Y'know, when you're not prattling on about BOY Comics every five $#@%ing minutes.

I'm going to keep doing that, only I've moved it to the "fan art" section. Since I have run out of back issues, I am just making my own new issues starting with #120, so thank you, public domain laws!

Has some leftover Amazon money on a gift card from the holidays, so picked this up... I don't get many omnibus editions, but almost all the ones I have are DC (this is my 4th DC omnibus to 1 Marvel omnibus). -M

Went to my lcs today, and they had just gotten in a bunch of DC Digests that hadn't been priced yet, and ended up picking up the lot of 7 for $1-$3 each... -M

I came across one a couple years ago and discovered...they're too damn small for me to be able to read nowadays.

Worse case scenario, I cut them up as decoupage as I make my own decorated short boxes. I have a bunch of coverless books my con friend Jesse gets for me (for like $5-$10 a short box of coverless books) that I use, so these will go in that pile if the print winds up being too small. -M

I have the New Teen Titans and GL ones. I think the Titans has a new story just for that Digest.

Yeah, I remember there being a furor over getting that story when it came out and a few shops charging stupid money for copies because Titans was "hot" at the time. I never picked it up at the time and hadn't seen one in forever. -M

The story featured Carmine Infantino art , and was reprinted later on with the Preview story that was in DC presents #26.

Ollie's got another shipment of trades in, and I made an Ollie's run this morning. Picked up 22 new trades and hardcovers for just over $100. 21 DC and 1 Marvel. The Marvel book was the Complete Deathlok collecting the Astonishing Tales run and other Bronze Age appearances. The DC stuff included a mix of classic and modern: Daring New Adventures of Supergirl Vol. 1 Birds of Prey Vol. 1 JLA Year One Deluxe HC 3 volumes of the early 2000s Superman/Batman series 2 volumes of Lemire's Green Arrow and one other GA collection 3 volumes of various Catwoman trades a Batman Rebirth volume a volume of Black Canary and various other volumes that caught my eye. I had about 10 more in my maybe pile, but was trying to keep my total under $100 or thereabouts. I went just a little over after sales tax. -M What's an Ollie's, and why do they sell TPBs so cheap? I want an Ollie's!!!

I want an Ollie's!!! They are a discount/odd lot/salvage retail chain, and last Christmas they bought all the excess stock when DC liquidated their NY warehouse after the move to Burbank, and did well blowing out the trade cheap, so they have gone after other volume buys of that ilk. Earlier in 2018, they bought out all of Loot Crate's overstock on genre/geek t-shirts and blew them out, they bought up a huge portion of Toys R Us merchandise stock when they went out, and I believe they bought a large chunk of the trades Diamond put on liquidation at the end of the year (like they always do but it is only available to retailers who usually try to sell it for full MSRP not at a discount to maximize their margin). They buy in bulk, usually at pennies on the dollar for MSRP, and turn around and sell cheap to their customers. Their store motto is "Good Stuff, Cheap" and they do a decent job of living up to it. It's a national chain, per se, but there are some regions they don;t have a presence in. -M addendum Here's the website for Ollie's, there's a store locator on the site to see where your nearest Ollie's might be.

Sounds a bit like Five Below here in the Northeast.. they have a modern version of whitman bags.. 4 DC comics for $5.. but there's pretty random New 52 stuff. we also had Building 19 (which was a local chain.. the other stores were building 19 1/2, 19 1/3, etc), that did that sort of thing, but never comics and its been gone for years. Hey, wait.. there IS one near me... guess what I'm doin tomorrow...

Ollie's also has comic grab bags I think it's 10 comics for $5, with a mix of stuff from the 80s to the present, but they come prebagged so you can't mix and match. -M
