Here in town we have a used record/comic book store that I rarely go to (it's on the other side of town near nothing else I go to so if I go it's a specific trip and the owners tend to overgrade/overprice stuff at times). I hadn't been since January, but this week they announced they were having a 30% off sale on all comics and had restocked their 50 cent boxes, so I took a ride over on Sunday afternoon since I had the day off. When I got there, I was also surprised to be told he has a long box of Silver/Bronze-ish stuff that he was going to list on FB Monday (today) for a claim sale at $2 each and I could go through and pick out anything if I wanted to. There was nothing earth-shattering in the box, but some decent stuff for $2 each. So I rummaged through the 50 cent bins, the sale box and briefly looked through the other boxes and found a bunch of stuff. The most expensive issue I picked up was $5 (minus the 30% so $3.50) which was the issue of Elvira' House of Mystery, everything else was 50 cents to $3 minus the discount). Among the $2 auction box was this Silver Age Atom which I grabbed... I got a bunch of Batman stuff (all of it for 50 cents each except the two Bronze Age books which were in the auction box for $2 each In the 50 cent bins, I found this and couldn't pass it up because of our own Crimebuster's influence... The top 2 here were in the 50 cents bins, the bottom two in the auction box... I already mentioned the Elvira book, the Alien Encounters as in the 50 cent bins, I never see issues for less than $5-6 online, most near $10 on Lonestar two of the G.I.Combat issues were in the auction box, the other two were $1 books... these two were in the auction box for $2 each... these two Gladstone issues had classic Barks stories in them and were int he 50 cent boxes... some classic Kubert covers...the Tomahawk and Our Army at War issues were $3 each (minus discount) and the others were 50 cent issues... The Spirit issue was a buck, the Critters issue has an early Usagi Yojimbo story and was 50 cents... and some more miscellaneous 50 cent stuff... and sometimes you come across stuff you didn't know existed....cover by Gulacy, interior art by Paul Ryan and Tom Lyle and that's the haul. It felt good to rummage through comic boxes again after over 3 months of not doing it, even if I was wearing a mask and gloves. -M

A lot of great stuff going on here! Love the romance pickups, Tomahawk, and that Crimebuster #0!
That's the only issue of Crimebuster published. Even in the Golden Age, all his appearances were in Boy Comics, he never got his own title. This one shot is the only one, as they never did a Crimebuster #1 or anything to follow it up. issue #0 is from AC, and it compiles a Crikmebuster / Iron Jaw storyline that ran through several issues of FemForce. It's not terrible as these things go, though it is very 90's, but obivously it holds a special place for me!

^Like I've said previously, been reading Thor and I think Destroyer might be one my new favorite bad guys. 118 and 119 were really great issues

That last book. (119) was a bit disappointing. I opened it up and it was slightly detached on the lower staple to the centerfold. It was listed as 3.0-3.5.

No worries, though. I'll soon make everyone else forget all about it...

These ones arrived a few hours ago. I didn't take pictures because they can hardly be described as "classic". It took 15 days for them to arrive from the UK, not exactly fast.

I got the four Monster Hunters Marvel Universe comics in the mail today. People had mentioned them here enough, and I like Roger Stern as a writer anyway, so that they were on my list to watch for. I also picked up the Avengers Two mini-series from around then with Wonder Man and The Beast, also by Stern... Also I won a '70s Power Man & Iron Fist #50 today in nice medium but clean and sharp condition for $6.50 Can.; never thought I'd get to read that one, but it has to make it to my door yet of course, hoping it does.

Went on another hunt yesterday, visited a couple of shops in Nashville (30-ish miles away) that I haven't been to since March. Here are some of the highlights-- However, the "bargain of the day" find was a complete 56-issue run of "Jon Sable: Freelance" in fine+ condition in the 50-cent boxes at one location. So, I bought the entire run for about $28. Obviously, I'm not going to post pics of all those books, but issue #1 is shown below. Other nice finds for the day included a small cache of books shown in the last picture below, several key issues of Starslayer (including 2nd appearance of Rocketeer and 2nd appearance of Groo) for 50 cents each, Girls' Romances #160 (final issue) with a cover by my favorite romance artist Jay Scott Pike and an interior story by my 2nd favorite romance artist John Romita. I also picked up a decent copy of Romantic Confessions #3 (1949) for $5.99. Another sweet deal was the 4 issues of The Invaders for 50 cents each... nothing great in the condition department, but still good, solid complete reader copies. So all in all, it was pretty much a Mike Grell and romance book feature day, with a good mix of other stuff and a dash of Kirby goodness thrown in
