Picked up a few odds & ends today-- And while they don't fall into the "classic" category, I found the last 3 issues that I needed for the last Mister Miracle series. Oh, and my apologies, @mrp , I totally stumbled across the DNAgents #24 today-- It was in better condition than my existing copy, plus, I just couldn't turn it down for $1.50. But hey, sometimes them's the breaks.

tartanphantom I've tried for almost 8 years to stumble across a copy of #24 and it never happened, so congrats! I'm sure now that I bought it at a going rate price I'll probably now start finding them, but thems the breaks. -M

I had a worn copy that I bought new when it came out back in '86, and was looking to replace it. Couldn't find it for less than $10 for several years, and it's the only "semi-run killer" in the entire series. Finally found a copy for $4.00 and snatched it up. Then within 3 months time I ran across SIX more copies in a LCS sidewalk sale 50-cent bin-- clearly old overstock as they were in great shape and all grouped together in the bin. What the heck... I bought 'em all.

Really dig that Detective 433 cover. Yup. That would be Dick Giordano doing his best Mike Kaluta/Berni Wrightson mash-up!

Nice books , tartanphantom . Does that mean I now have to get a Dnagents # 24 ? Perhaps, but I think it really means that at least a few of us in this thread are fairly simpatico in our collecting tastes. However, I personally will never shun you if you choose not to pursue the (fictional) Dave Stevens Collection "CCF Merit Badge."
My biggest problem is that my taste in comics is extremely broad... probably too broad, if that's possible.

But it's not a contest, I just enjoy hanging with like-minded fellow comic enthusiasts. This hobby can get very niche-driven, and the beauty is that one can pursue as many (or as few) interests as they wish. My only comic-collecting "Golden Rules" are: (NOT implying anything toward you or anyone else here)
1) Don't backstab fellow collectors (we're a small enough group as it is, and there's plenty of room for all of us)-- Share knowledge and the joy of collecting/reading comics.
2) Collect what you enjoy, and enjoy what you collect. (translated: don't just be a bean-counting speculator-- take the time to read and enjoy your collection)

Those are two good rules to live by. I've had a trade fall through once or twice on this forum. That's the way the cookie crumbles some times. The only times I speculated on comics was the crazy 90's. But many of us got caught up in the frenzy.

So I managed to find another Matt Baker book on ebay for about $10, this time with a cover by Matt Barker too. I also snagged another issue I needed of Frank Frazetta Fantasy Illustrated Magazine (3 more for the full run now) -M

I grabbed the two over-sized hardcover Battle collections that were curated by Garth Ennis. The stories are HMS Nightshade, The General Dies at Dawn, Fighting Mann, War Dog and three short stories. Books are much larger than I expected. here they are with a standard hardcover (DC Goes to War) and an omnibus (Jonah Hex) for comparison.

If I remember correctly the Lorna Doones varied in page count depending on which edition you got, I think the first two, obviously the original 'Classic Comics' titled edition, had the full length Matt Baker story and then after that pages/panels got dropped. I only ever had the 4th edition myself. His work was reprinted a fair bit during his (short) lifetime; Ajax-Farrell re-used some of his South Seas Girl and Wonder Boy, and Star re-used some of the Fox comics.

Good info that I didn't know-- now I'll have to check and see which edition I have (based on LRN on the back cover). Thanks.
