I was slow to appreciate Jack's work, I confess... but I always thought that his Kirby crackle looked awesome. Nobody ever managed to make it look as good, either, although Byrne gave it a good shot. Man, from about 1979-1986 Byrne was unmatched. Too bad he’s a Horses behind.

Kirby had already done an homage to The Prisoner, back in Fantastic four #84-87 Someone should do a review thread of The Prisoner and its adaptations and homages to it........ oh, wait..................

I think my favorite non-Kirby artist doing Kirby Krackle is probably Keith Giffen, especially in the late 70s and early 80s when he was still in his "Kirby phase." I seem to remember some wonderful Krackle from his Defenders issues paritcularly but I am sure there are other examples as well.

I agree with Perez. It felt more organic when he did it.

Of course neither Perez nor Byrne were ever trying to emulate Kirby's style in the way Giffen was at that time but it would have been interesting to see Royer ink them on something, as we saw them both inked by Sinnott at different times on the FF. I'm curious how it would have looked, now that the idea as occurred to me.

rom about 1979-1986 Byrne was unmatched. Too bad that did not apply to his art.

Here is a page of Kirby's pencils, with some less than complimentary Colletta inking.

For those who desire a Kirby totem for their collection, here's another "Kirby" action figure... -M

I want a full size GI Joe figure (though Kirby was on the short side...like me..so it would also be smaller than the regular Joe), with Kirby in his combat gear and helmet, cigar clutched between his teeth, carrying his M1 rifle, with a sketchbook poking out of his pack.
Dead Nazi figure sold separately.

Kirby couldn't draw beautiful women.
